I spent a few years down your way about 10 years ago. I am still trying to get over the loss of 100 birds that spring, because we had to move to Sub-burbs. I am so stuck. I need a small farm, and a few teenagers. Preferably not my teens. ( Oh wait I liked mine then.)

Thanks!
I don't have a pair of muscovy, I have two males. Sorry, I would not want more russian orloffs. I'm having too much trouble with the two I have. They fly out of my enclosure, along with my smallest RIR, and free-range whether I'm letting them free-range that day or not. This would be okay except I rescue dogs and some of them are not chicken friendly......that is what the fence is FOR. However the orloffs have a mind of their own. I did have three of them but one already fell victim to a dog. The little RIR is my favorite and she usually stays inside the pen until she gets jealous of what the orloffs are eating.
I re-seeded the free range area and I'm letting it grow and keeping them in the pen, but yesterday I had to chase the orloffs back in twice. Arrrrgggggh!

I thought I was going to have some muscovy pairs for sale, but I ordered 15 and two died and only three of the remaining are females. I read that you can't just have one female for a muscovy drake...they are too .....uh....active for just one pullet, they need two or three. But males are supposed to be okay together if there is no female. Go figger. If anyone on this thread is more informed, please let me know....I'm on BYC to learn as well as be entertained.

I've found this forum to be both!

I wanna cry...... How long does it normally take a pheasant to get out of its shell? Am I just over worried? I had a pheasant pip around 6:30 las night, and as of yet there is only a very small hole in its shell! I thought for sure I would wake up to it out!

update: so it's beak is moving so I KNOW its till alive. I am just concerned it may be taking too long? but I also know that a lot of people say to just allow nature to take its course

I have 3 California rabbit bucks that are about 5 months old now, and today I let them out to run in the big girl hen yard.
They are all 3 taking turns being the one in back (if ya know what I mean) it is hysterical!!!!

while you all are going crazy with those bators, my wife wants a handful of EE bantams (prefer pullets ofcourse) and I would like 1 each of the SLW and GLW to add to our exisitng flock (large fowl)...anyone in Wa State doing that ? it would save me ordering and ending up with extra birds I really dont want or have room for....

I've been checking on her most days. She seems to be doing okay. The waiting is hard, but what can I do?

If that dude doesn't lay a coop by this Friday, maybe the Rustler, the White Eggs Guy, and I will have to go on a re-con mission for you.

We might be for hire if necessary. (Say Chickens) Of course I'll have to talk the guys into it. Oh wait I was driving last time and after we left that corner like we did that last time, I think they were just a bit upset at my driving.

I still think it was that smoke they were blowing.

Tell that guy that the group is gettin peeved at him, and we might just have to break out the Weave, and then we just don't know what could happen. ( Maybe frozen capons at dawn)

If he doesn't come on Friday, I will definitely be looking into other possibilities. Thanks for the offer.
