I hope both your kids get better quickly. I've had one friend who's child went through that. So sorry. If I recall correctly, it's pretty miserble for the kid.
Looking forward to seeing pictures of your run. Do you have a tractor that you can throw a tarp over? We built a small tractor out of PVC pipe (only 3 chickens) and we put a tarp over the top. It works very well. Our 3 get to go out in the rain.
What I can't wait for is to get the coop/run combo done. I'm so tired of carrying them from the garage, through the house, to the backyard. And playing chicken chase... good heavens, those little squirts are fast, and they duck under tables and chairs. When it's time to put them back in their brooder it becomes a three ring circus. Happy Hen treats aren't even working - they know when those things come out, they're going back inside. They want to eat them, but they don't want to eat them, because they know they're going to be picked up and carried off to the brooder.
Yes, technically I *could* carry them from the coop to the portable run I made...but imagine doing that crazy circus chicken run with 8 of them!
