Where's a cheap place to get mealworms? The cheapest I can find is 1lb for $16 at Seattle Farm Supply. That's quite a drive for me! Almost an hour away

Petco has them in their Wild bird feed section. They are the dried ones. I am trying to raise them, it is taking a long time!

I've been trying to play catch up on the threads, and already forgot for sure what breeds you were looking for to replace your birds with, but seem to remember it was something I had.

I've been toying with the idea of parting with my English Orps and/or my Lavender project Orps. If either flock interests you, let me know.

Only reason I'm thinking of rehoming them is that they are my largest birds. They eat the most and take up the most room, and I need room!!! I've got way too many birds right now and no where to but all the juveniles.....sigh. I usually wait until late summer / early fall to start thinning down the flocks for winter, but if anyone is insterested, let me know. I'd want them to go to someone who will be able to breed them in case I ever want to get babies down the road!!! LOL!

The two I've been playing with are BLRW and lavender orps! It would be great to get some ready to lay, as my husband probably thinks I'm crazy for selling off all our laying birds

Ogress...............bears & elk.

I have dealt with coyotes, bobcat, cougers, redtail hawks and raccoon. The cougars and the raccoons devastated my flock.

I'm thinking of selling our Wheaton Americauna along with the flock so we can concentrate on just one breed in her coop, too. She's pretty sweet and lays a mint green egg. She was hatched on 5/7/11, though, so is older than you were looking for.

Here's the thing: all my girls are still young and I don't know if I could incorporate her well into the flock! Also, where are you located? It *would,* on the other hand, be pretty awesome to get a started hen already though. Hmm...I couldn't come to you, but if you want her gone I might consider it.

Blah. I want her! But there's no way I can drive to a ferry dock or Gig Harbor. Budgets suck! I'm already blowing ours by driving to monroe and kirkland for 2 birds on Saturday

I think that they have to turn six during that school year in order for them to join, but the page at the Snohomish County WSU Extension site isn't loading for me.....so if she turns 5 in Feb, she could joing the following fall. So when she would normally enroll in Kindergarten. Does that make sense? You could always call the extension office and make sure. HTH!!
