Quote: Oh yes...in fact the mom who chewed me out...her son is one of them. She says they are "just being kids" and we were kids once and did things like this....ummmm I never did...I know some who did do some drinking...but I did not. I have NEVER drank so much I blacked out or went into a stranger's house. And yes, oldest is 19...on Thursday - the day he went before the judge. Happy B-day. Also one of the other drinking buddies has an older brother - could be him (the older brother is an alcoholic). They were all partying together....my David got so drunk he was biligerent...his buddies left him passed out in the park. When they came back to check up on him he was gone.
He needs new friends. Or at least he needs to see them at your house, under your watchful eye.
Yes, he does need new friends. Unfortunately, he is no longer welcome in our house at this point. We just can't have him around the two younger kids. He is 19, has no job, just graduated, has no plans for his future...we have had continued problems with his decisions...so we now need to think about the younger 2...until he can follow and respect our rules/etc in our house....then he needs to find other houseing. To give you an idea to understand David's behavior...he is the one in the movies...the college buddy that has not "moved on"...that goes from friend to friend's house and sleeps on their couch until either the girlfriend or wife kicks him out...THAT IS MY DAVID!

When we moved out here in Shelton onto our 8 acres, I called it the "Crazy Y Ranch" and it pretty much stuck. (both my maiden name and married name start with Y). Even when we have our big BBQs, people even check in to The Crazy Y Ranch on their smart phone! LOL -So now I'm a chicken farmer, I'm wondering if or how I should incorporate 'fowl' or 'eggs' into the name!

Does anyone have experience with Exchequer Leghorn? I'm looking to add a few more chicks to my mix flock. I lost another chicken, a Barnie (luckily the one that wasn't friendly & would run away from the flock if scared), to an Owl we believe. We were getting lazy & letting the chicken door stay open so they would be able to put themselves away & go out at dawn. So we stopped doing that. I liked having an even 6 chickens but adding just 1 new bird isn't going to work so I'll probably need to get 4chicks. I like having a mix flock of hens.

Quote: Thank you for the kind thoughts. #1 son came home and we got busy. Whaaahoooo, I must have put it back together right. (no left over parts) Cut my side yard just lickity-split, had all my gears and reverse. Shifting is very easy. New mandrels, new blades whoooohoooo. Yeah we even cleaned up the deck since we had it out and all apart, managed to even paint it the other day.

Son says I need to clean the deck more then once every 3 years. Hmmrump, wonder why he said that? Just because the grass was growing taller on top of the deck then it was growing in the back yard was no need for him to go all snotty on me.

Welcome to BYC Lillypad. I have a pair of peafowl. I didn't raise them, though......although hopefully my Kate will come back from her nest in the woods with a couple that I can raise soon!

I always put marbels in my waterer...when they are tiny tiny babies. Give them about 2 weeks and I take the marbels out.

I am soo sorry for you loosing all those babies.

That's what I did, too. Works great. In fact, the day I got our chickens, I wasn't sure I was ready. I had it in my head I would have the coop done BEFORE I got chicks. Well, went into the feed store and looked at the Rhode Island Reds - there were two... our little Rhodie and one that had bubbles coming out it's beak, with it's head buried in the water. I got help at the store, they took it out, and then our little Rhodie freaked out because she was all alone. So, she and two others went home with me.

Ha! They're 9 weeks old now... and we're STILL working on the coop.
