Oh those are mine, right? LOL I have actualy been having dreams about chickens and Peacocks! I will have some when I can get ahold of some. Congrats on the babies!
Oh no, I am sorry! Maybe they will come out to be with your other chickens in the morning. Or through scratch out or some kind of nummy treats and maybe that will bring them out. Hope you get your hands on them soon.

Update on the two missing blues: They came out of the brush yesterday and hung out with the rest of my flock for a while, but ran every time I came close - I don't think they were ever fed by human hands, and they don't respond to "here chick chick chick".....they will learn! One of them entered the big coop with the rest of the flock, I was able to scoop her up and put her in the 4x4.....the other one disappeared when I wasn't looking. Hopefully she'll show up today, but I noticed late yesterday afternoon I had quite a few crows flying around so I am expecting the worse and hoping for the best!

Good morning everyone!!!!!

Oh I am so excited

I will be picking up my eggs from WA4-Hpoultrymom at noon today! My broody Silver Laced Wyandotte Fancy ahs been waiting so patiently. I will let her sit on the eggs in her chosen nest for a few days and then move her to the broody area to sit for the rest of the time.
Also I get to pick up my free turkeys today also. Not sure if there will be two or three just yet, the guy said that the third one is out sitting on eggs in his woods and I can have her as soon as she is done!

Enjoy your day today, I'll pop back on a bit later.

what breed are the eggs?

Kenshan 1 - no peacocka here but, I used to have my own grooming shop and did it for many years. Love your avatar, is the middle pup a black & tan Cocker? Used to show and breed cockers.
Haven't had any since the last one passed in 1989..
Yep that is a Bl & Tan Cocker. She was a pup in that picture when I had a lady computer draw that picture for me, she made up the basket as they were in a laundry basket lol. The other white is our Parson Russell Terrier aka jack russell. On the other side is our Sheltie. The cocker didn't work out though. She was here on breeder contract, I worked off the cocker pup grooming her kennel dogs (she couldn't take care of the 50 cockers anymore due to health so she was trying to find homes for them) with rose colored glasses. I had it in my mind that I wanted a cocker from the breeder that trained me to groom, I wanted a dog I could show & a dog I could put in different groom styles. I didn't learn about the breed itself. She loved to dig, climb the kitchen stool to counter surf, so subborn she could hardly learn any basic obed & brounce around our feet panting all the time. The constant happy panting drove me nuts. She did have an awesome straight coat which if I didn't get busy would brush out easy with a couple of days or a week between brushing. She loved to be groomed which is rare for any dog. The stress in the house & the looming breeder's contract (showing & breeding) had my anxiety threw the roof so after 2.5yrs of stress I decided enough was enough so she went back to the breeder last Aug. I couldn't show because hubby had lost his job plus it was a waste to show up against paid handlers or well known breeders showing. She rarely came in last place, mostly middle of the pack & even got as high as reserve once. The breeder had let us not show but wanted us to breed, my business was picking up, thankfully, with him out of work so when was I going to be able to raise a litter of pups...wasn't going to happen. My anxiety is under control, naturally, with a little help from a councelor which I haven't needed since Feb of this yr & being in an awesome new church.

I love doing mobile grooming. So much freedom & so relaxing. I do need to get another vehicle though, mine is really on its last leg. Motor is old & tired. Hubby is hopefully going to give it another tune up this year, 2nd this yr. Its misfiring pretty bad at idle but fine (barely any missing) in park. It got better with the last tune up so we'll see. I've been grooming 14yrs this month, been mobile for 4.5yrs (Sept).

Out of 7 that is all that made it to lockdown.
I at least go to see the first one hatch before I now have to go off to work.
My DS is now in charge of texting me during the day to let me know if anything else happens.
I really don't have time to go to work....I have more important things to do.....like watch babies hatch!

Our plans are coming together. We have been getting rid of a lot of our stuff. 2 weeks ago we had a large garage sale. We have sold most of the big items on craigslist. I am still working on the RV, hope to have it livable in two months. once in the RV we will start saving. In spring of 2013 we will take a 2 to 3 week vacation/move to Canby. The job, I have only talked to my brother and he is saying they always have openings so I am waiting to talk to them. I have not contacted Cloverleaf yet but will do that when I get caught up. I am getting very excited about this.

Also, PLEASE think good thoughts for us that we are not allergic to dairy, because I am considering a mini Dexter or Jersey.

It was so good to meet you yesterday! Thank you so much for letting me buy the incubators from you. I wish you the best on allergy shots today. Your little one is cute.

I came home and told my husband all about your adorable chickens and your cute coops. He just gave me the stink-eye - like he was afraid of chicken math or something.

So, I'm trying to remember the names of your breeds. He asked me and I wasn't sure I had the breed names correct.

Were the big, beautiful black ones Black Marans? They are such pretty birds!

And the cute ones in the little house with fuzzy heads, were they silkies?

What were your bantams? They were very pretty. I had told him, after seeing yours, that I almost wished we had gotten the bantam sized Brahma's.

I'm also glad I met you BEFORE I was sporting a puffy, black, blue and red black eye. Last night we went to see Madagascar 3, and while walking out of the theater, my husband said something to someone else coming out the door behind him, I thought he said something to me, so I turned to look at him and didn't see a curb. It went something like this...

. Our family ended up in the ER until almost 2:00 a.m. I had to have a C-Scan. Ended up with a concussion and very ugly, nearly swollen shut eye. My kids have never been up that late. Thankfully, they handled it well.

Just had a quick visit with chickldymachias also, as she just came by to take a few of my hens off my hands.

That made a little bit more room in a few of the coops that are a little bit tight on space.

Did a big bird shuffle last night as we were catching those hens, so we are getting there. Going to try and clean out the brooders today in hopes that my 3 little Salmon Faverolle's that Kim is hatching for me all make it!!!

My last hatch was huge, and I still have two large groups of teenagers that still need to grow out a bit more, before moving into their permanent coops, and then all my spring babies will be in their permanent homes. I had planned on hatching more after our trip back east at the end of July, but I think I may just wait until January.

Still have extra Olive Eggers and a few pet quality Serama's including one hen, if anyone is interested, let me know!!!

Just like eating lettuce! Ain't nothing to it. They are such fun, fascinating little creatures. Also for those who don't know. Two years of no pollination and mankind is done yup DEAD. The major pollinators are honey bees, Mason bees and bumble bees. PLEASE help these little creatures. All 3 are non aggressive and only sting as last resort for defense.

We have Mason bees that live in the weep holes of our garden window. For years, DH and I have talked about building mason bee houses, then we forget, and don't think about it again until we have already seen them nesting in the weep holes. We don't know much about them - but we figured if they've already built a nest, they're probably done finding new nests. Are we right about this? Or would it do any good to build a Mason bee condo over the summer?

We can't have honeybees in the city, but I won't let anyone disturb bumble bee nests that are in the ground. I just tell my kids where they are and make them walk around them.

We have a pesticide-free yard. Wish I could say that for the neighbors.
he.gif
And I don't mind encouraging the good bees to hang out on our lot. My husband will remove yellow jacket and wasp nests for the safety of our kids.

This year we have lots of the cutest little bumblebees with a brown patch on the butt. I've never seen that brown patch before. My doggone chickens have been driving me crazy because they're reducing my bumbler population... they've been eating them! My EE gets her bee every time, too. I've never seen her miss. Sigh.

Question for all of you...

Yesterday I bought a couple of great little Brinsea Egg Incubators from Chubby Chicken. We'd really like to do a fun science project with our kids beginning the week of July 9, or shortly after, when our schedule eases up. Problem is, we can't keep the chicks because we are going on vacation in August.

Would anyone here like to have some eggs incubated for them? We'd like to keep the chicks for a few days in a brooder so our kids could visit with the babies they hatched, but after that, they'd need a home.

We'd need fertilized eggs and someone who'd take the baby chicks and raise them as their own. Anyone interested?

Next spring, we plan to incubate and raise broilers. But, we'd like for the kids to experience watching a hatch this summer, if we can.

Thanks!
