That was nice of your neighbor to bring your mail! But I have no idea what you are talking about ***lalala*** (covers ears) I am still young, except my knees hurt and a few silver hairs and...and...

OK...I think it was when DD turned thirteen

And my flannel pjs keep getting put on earlier and earlier! As soon as the chickens are away!

So I have another question, anyone who can help please do! Princess isn't eating. She's a bit dull today and IS drinking water, but isn't eating at all. She took a very nice long dust bath this afternoon in the sun and seemed happy but when I picked her up tonight she felt lighter to me and had nothing in her crop. Everyone else has full crops and marched off to bed. What do I do? How do I encourage her to eat? Could the big birds be starving her? I have a separate feed trough (a chick one, full to the brim) in the coop in case they chase her away from the large feeder in the run, but she hasn't touched it. She's still walking around but whenever I try to give her anything, including meal worms, she just turns up her nose. Help! Her poops are normal.
Sorry I don't have much help to offer. Have you tried some electrolytes mostly to keep energy up. If you don't have electrolytes try a little honey.
Hope all works out well for you and yer Princess.

Thanks so much. Yes, I have electrolytes which I will try in the morning. An impacted crop is something totally different than an empty crop, right? Seems like she's just not eating due to bullying??

along with the incubator!

(Question Hallerlake - is Ramona's chick a pure Spitz or Spitz/Brabanters cross?)
I am already sooo in trouble with chicken math, so I am so glad you spoke up!

Ramona's chick is a Brabanter/Spitz cross.

Plz tell William that Mr. Deeve says hi :)

haha, I will! When we came back from getting our produce on Saturday morning and you guys *really* weren't there anymore, Jeanine cried. We had such a great time with you both and please tell Debbie we enjoyed her company as well! Thanks so much for the great run, the littles are really loving it! I hope you like your Cutco, we only give it to people we really like.

They are FINALLY starting to get it now too, and *most* of the time can find the door back into it.

Dumb chickens.

What's odd about Princess is that even when I gave her and Ricky a break from the rest of the flock to enjoy the run without the stress of a pecking order, she still didn't eat. The big girls were free-ranging the backyard and couldn't get in the run for a while. Wonder if she was too tired to eat, from lack of food

Should I go get her tonight and keep her in the house, or wait until morning since she's already asleep? Since it's night, will a chicken even wake up enough to eat some scrambled egg or would she just want to go back to bed?

An impacted crop is what Drama had, after she ate all those wood chips and sand. Yes, an impacted crop is the opposite of an empty crop. I had to massage Drama's crop and continue to offer her water in order to get stuff to move.

Can you isolate her from the others until she's completely comfortable with you? Do you have an animal crate or something to keep her in inside the house with you where she can be around you but not the others? When we had Drama in a dog crate in the house, we put shredded paper in the bottom and laid out a few layers of paper towel over the top. That way, we wouldn't have any allergic reactions to wood chips being in the house. After she's eating again and calmed down, maybe you could slowly introduce her to the flock. Unfortunately, since she's a lone bird being introduced to the flock, there's a chance they may pick on her again.
