Tonight DBF is getting 6 chicks: 2 for us & 2 each for 2 different friends. He's so stressed about picking them out. I told him to pick them up, make sure they seemed "perky", had good looking legs, and had nothing on their butts. We're getting a BA & a BO to add to our 4-bird flock.

BABIES!!!

Possible names:
Barbie Q
Kebab
Fricassee
Maryanne (BA) & Ginger (BO)

Copy cat! My BR is Marianne. (although it's spelled different!) BF has picked out an herb theme for his chicks. His BO is going to be Ginger too, then there's Pepper, Rosemary, and I think the last one is going to be Sage. He was QUITE bummed!

Sigh...I went there and looked...I dunno why I tortured myself!! The were so daaaarrrnnnnneedddd cute!!!! I saw americana chicks...I wanted them really bad...but I promised my hubby I wouldn't get any chicks till my broody cochin hatches hers out...she is sitting on nine eggs and we candled them last weekend...(I didn't check every single one) and they were fertile with movement in there....so exciting...anyhoo...I was (WAS) going to get americana chicks this week but then I got a phone call from a lady buddy of mine and she asked if I would rescue 9 bantams from seattle for her or they were gonna be put down...well who am I to say NO? NOT!!! Thus in doing so...I put off my "americana chickies" I wanted sooo bad. We deliberately did NOT set up the brooder so that I wouldn't be tempted. So I took my grandaughter to see chicks...It seriously was hard...she kept saying "No chicks gramma" over and over...so...I am sitting here wistfully wishing I could have but then again, I am saving the fate of nine bantams. I should have them the end of this week. So...for now, I will look at everyone elses babies!

I'm so glad... after wandering around this site for a few days now, I've finally found Washington chickens.
I'm getting ready to go get my girls but I've never bought chicks before. Do you have any advice on what to look for? I'm getting just 3 to start with. I don't want to order by mail.

I do got a question already though
is there a place here where I can see what is right near me so when ready I can just hop in the car and pick up hatching eggs or chicks or even laying hens?

I will be selling my Polish Rooster. He is very nice and very kind. I am just getting out of Polish and would love to find him a loving home. We are located in Reardan, WA.
