Ok, so here's our two 10 week old Bantams. I know Blade is a Cochin but Chicken Little I'm not sure. The feed store lady told me that I had a Cochin and an Ameracauna. Yes? Also, sex them please b/c I'm not really sure who is what.

This is Chicken Little. I think he's a He but I could be wrong, I was told this is an Ameracauna, but I don't know for sure. Seems like all the pics of them that I found when I Googled them, looked nothing like this one.

This is Blade. Blade we were told is a Cochin and I'm thinking a boy as well but I'm really not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I don't like not knowing what they are this far into the game b/c I don't want to tell my girls they are handsome or tell my boys they are "so pretty".

These next three pics are just for viewing pleasure, I know how much we all love to look at pics!

This is my son and his 10-ish? week old duck Mugs, like the Rootbeer. He is a very handsome guy...the duck and the boy.

And this is Bruno, our 17 week old Gold Laced Wyandotte who was supposed to be a She. The feed store said, just wait awhile longer to make sure b/c we are 98% sure it's a pullet....um hmm, our "pullet" is crowing. Haha, that's ok though I'm not upset I just think it's funny that they didn't believe m, we wanted a roo and we really like him (so far that is).

This is my daughter and her 17 week old girl Pancake (yes, she named her) the RIR. I was so nervous about having Pancake b/c after (of coarse) we got her, I read post after post after post about how mean and nasty the RIR's tend to be, I was thinking "of coarse they are b/c I have one!" But this girl is our sweetest big bird out of the 6 chickens and the 3 ducks. Pancake will never see a dinner plate, (unless her personality changes for the worse)!

Thanks for looking, hope you enjoyed them as much as I enjoy looking at all of yours! And, thanks for your help with breeds and sexes in advance.

OK thanks everyone. Doesn't it make the birds look ugly?

No, because the part that is clipped is the part of the wing that is folded under when they aren't flying. (know this after having parakeets when I was a teenager).

Well I am taking another step in my bee keeping. I have agreed to supply (a few) hives of bees to a local farm. It will start with removing a colony in a building and taking over the hives that are already there. Hope this works and I am not getting in too deep!

I went over last night to check it out and while looking at the bees I have to remove and bring home I got stung right on top of the ear and behind the same ear.

By the time I got home my ear was sticking out and looked like Dumbo or Pres never mind.

I just walked next door and talked to the neighbor when he got home from work. He had made passive comments about the rooster crowing yesterday, but I guess I took it the wrong way. I think he was more just interested in WHY I got a rooster to begin with? I flat out said "Is my rooster's crowing bothering you in the mornings because if so I will get rid of him" and he said No, his bedroom is on the opposite side of the house and he only hears Ricky crowing once he's already awake!

I think that means we get to keep him!!!!!!! I told him if he's ever bothered by the chickens to please come straight to us though and we will sort it out promptly; that way we can avoid some sticky situations in the future.

Hey I just noticed I passed 1k posts and now I'm "Chicken Obsessed"! I think I was chicken obsessed way before now, but that's cool!

I've heard people talk about using a red flashlight at night while handling the birds. Why? Will that keep them more calm while I'm clipping wings if I do it at night and use a red bulb flashlight? I know a few of the birds are going to balk like crazy and fight this when I try it.
