I am going to have a weird looking barred rock/silkie rooster. Just caught him and had a good look at where his comb is going to grow in. Looks like its going to be a walnut like dad.

Who knows, maybe you will inspire them to have their own chickens, then you can watch each others' birds during trips, and know that they won't complain about your flock! The neighbors asked what I was building today, lol. I was hauling lumber in my mustang with the top down. <--- that HAS to be mustang abuse, lol. So I told him I was building a castle for my chicksand he asked if he could bring his kids over to see them this week. I said sure

Quote: Right now I'm using CareFresh bedding, but only because I had bags left over from my small animals. It gets kicked out of the nest boxes a lot, and occasionally sticks to eggs.
My next nest box liner is going to be what SadieSue, Ogress and some others have discovered. It's an excelsior pad and it's easy to keep clean and change out when necessary: http://www.eggcartons.com/Home-Page/Nest-Pads-and-Bedding
Oh no, so sorry!Well, it was inevitable since Prince Will the peacock had a broken wing. The coyote got him this morning.
And now I can't find my last peachick.![]()
Good to see you again Mikey!Well Hello to every one. It's been a while since I've been on the forum. (I was 1100 posts behind, still am and I don't have time to catch up) I thought I had better say Hi so no one thinks I've gone over the rainbow bridge.
Renee, there are rescue groups that will trap cats and take them away. I don't have info on any, but that might be an option. Then they use their gas, the cat is gone and your girls are safe. Win win!We tried to do that. I called around... the closest place I could find that would take him was up in Lynnwood. Not wasting the gas on a cat that has it out for my chickens. That would be more than an hour drive each way.
