YAY! Now you can use it as an incentive to get your kids to do things. Mine is "No checking for eggs in the coop until you are out of your pj's and dressed!" and then I'll add bed made, hair brushed, etc.....hehheh.

fun things....they are all part of a Mom's evil plan.....

Hah! This mom's only evil plan is to try to sleep in with a couple of early bird kiddos and impatient chickies. My line is, while lying in bed trying to talk in my sleep, "You can check for eggs before your sister gets to it if you run out right now and let The Girls out!" ANYTHING to get a few extra moments of sleep on a weekend morning!

You are hopefully on your way to Yellowstone already, but I wanted to reply.

I don't know what organizations the guy gave you, but I found this page: http://www.paws.org/other-feral-cat-resources.html. I will also ask around to see if I can find more info. I know you probably don't want to spend extra money on renting a trap, but there was a poster here that offered to take the cat away if you could catch it.
Thanks. Question - who's interested in taking him? He is not neutered - he got another cat prego. My neighbor managed to rehome that cat and her babies with someone who had a farm. They became barn cats. Still interested?

Yes - we arrived in West Yellowstone this evening. When we get back, I'll see if I can catch him. He comes to my yard frequently and upsets my chickens. Drama honks loudly and they all run up the ramp into their coop. That happened again, just minutes before we left on Friday. I wanted to back out of the whole trip. They are so used to "mama hen" coming out and letting them know they are OK. Being away from them for 12 days is going to be difficult... but 3 days are gone already. 9 more days and I'll see my girls again. All this time I thought we were only gone for 11 - I just counted - it's 12. Oops! I hope my chicken sitter realizes that.

Oh no! Here's hoping he recovers and you can leave for your trip with a relieved mind.

Thanfully, his injuries, while very bad, don't appear to be life threatening. He has a long road ahead of him to recover. He has many broken bones. Our Cubmaster and his wife went to visit him. He is in pretty good spirits. We plan to go visit him when we get back.

When our Pack asked what he'd like as a gift, and were told he'd like the last Harry Potter book, I knew he was at least doing well enough to want to read. That was good. Knowing that before we left gave me piece of mind a tiny bit.

Was he on the news yesterday? I can't find video online... but was told they interviewed him.

Guess what???!!! I got our very first ***2*** eggs today!!!!!! Pics later after company leaves

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They have deer on them. There are white spots on the necks and tails of the deer. I think maybe it looks like little eyes all over watching them or something.

When they hear me open the back door they always come running to beg for a treat. It's all find and dandy until I open that screen door and they see the pants. I've had them turn in mid flight to go the other direction.
THAT VISUAL GAVE ME A GOOD GIGGLE!!!!!!! HILARIOUS!!!!!!!

AS A NON-MORNING PERSON I FIND THAT BRILLIANT!!!!!

Yard sales were a bust for me today. I took my mad $ to Lowe's and bought a bunch of roses to save.

I went yard sale-ling with my SIL and niece on Saturday in Sunnyside, WA. Oh my goodness - yard sales are AWESOME on the East side. I bought a beautiful, like-new red leather jacket for $5 and two clarinets for $15 each! The clarinets are excellent instruments, in beautiful cases, and it appears they will only need to have the corks and pads replaced. My oldest will use one this year in school, and when my twins get to that age, I will be set with two very expensive instruments that I will have paid next to nothing for.

Oh I so would put them back onto medicated chick starter, Im one to keep our chicks on some kind of medicated starter or grower till they are around 3 month old. Or laying.

Mine are 18 weeks this coming Thursday, and they've been on medicated starter from day 1. We have dealt with injuries, but no illnesses.

I discovered that my chickens were, in fact, infected with roundworm when I found a poop with worms wriggling out. I've given them Wazine to clear out most of the worms and will be giving them Eprinex (thanks to FirewifeJess for the suggestion) in two weeks to finish the job. Is it just the stuff for cattle? I haven't found any for poultry, so I'm assuming that the cattle kind is what everyone uses.

Yes -- pour on for cattle. You will end up with close to a lifetime's supply :)
