If it wasn't bad enough that my brahma went broody (two weeks for chicks for her), I have a couple more of my layers thinking about it now.

And the one silkie that had started laying is now broody. She made it 16 eggs. I don't think the cockerel knows what he's doing yet. but I let her have the last few eggs. We'll see if any are fertile in a few days. I can always give her a chick or two from the brahma's clutch.

Chickens are making me want to pull my hair out. lol

Good luck with that. I've noticed that all my friends hens tend to go broody in groups. Or follow each other. Well other then Wendy, who is a lovely bantam Cochin/ Silkie mix that goes broody from about May to November with only a little bit in between. But she's a good mama and we love her lil ones that she gives us.

It's half the fun of chickens.

Ok so wife kept telling me she wanted to eventually get a "poofy head" chicken. I assumed she meant silkie's. Come to find out I was wrong she did in fact want Polish Crested. So then she saw an add on craigslist for Polish Crested... all the way in Rochester!!!! So she gave me the puppy dog eyes so we piled into the car to make the 1hr 21min drive to get her ONE polish crested so she would leave me to get back to BYC. Oh btw the lady charged $10 for straight run(is that a good price?). Here's what wandered mysteriously into the box I brought for her ONE polish crested...

Wife hasnt got a name that fits this one, any thoughts?

This is "mojo"

This is "Poof head"

And this is "Alice!"
All are Polish Crested, Alice is a silver laced Polish crested though...

Makes me feel so good to know that I am not the only one who comes home with more than I planned! That has happened to me so many times! I keep telling my DH that they just jumped into the box by themselves!

WTB: 2-3 Quality Silkie pullets or hens, preferably, B/B/S.

Todd has an awesome pad he wants to share.

Yes Shyla, DH named both roosters Todd.
LOL That's funny. I call him Ricky, and the two I got from JB I call Lucy and Ethel May! Although the other morning I was out watering the garden and Ricky was crowing, then someone else crowed once...Haven't heard it since so...
