No he wasn't. He was being sarcastic and condesending.

Eh, I think he may have been poking fun at you a teensy bit for being squeamish. For what it's worth, I'm squeamish, too. Still though, using your disability as a means to guilt-trip people who don't even know you are disabled is pretty bad form, in my opinion. But it's not like I have any authority here or anything.

Very true, your stepping into something that has absolutely NOTHING to do with you but you feel the civic obligation to defend the weak and the helpless who can not defend themselves. Give yourself a pat on the back and a round of applause. Good for you!!!

Your tiresome sarcasm aside, I myself was recently pounced on in this thread and accused of being "not nice" simply because I did not act like a passive-aggressive, everything-is-flowers-and-rainbows, neo-Christian zombie. I saw the same thing happening to the guy who gave you advice, so I stated my opinion, and made sure to acknowledge that my opinion carries no particular weight whatsoever.

I AM SORRY!!!

I am sorry. I owe everyone an appology. Both those I answered and those who had to read it.

I am in a great deal of pain today, that the meds are not doing a whole lot for. That is no reason to jump down anyone's throat.

I am very embarrased by my behavior and I hope that you will forgive it.

Well, a few thoughts...

You'd have about 21 days from the time you set the eggs to work on the coop, plus an additional six or so weeks if you brood them indoors/elsewhere.
There are probably folks here that would be willing to come and help you finish coop #2, once you have the incentive of new birds to put in them.
Not all six eggs are likely to hatch, so you may not get a full half dozen new "small turkeys".

Incubating is fun! I fully blame SadieSue for loaning me her bator and enabling me to have the experience.

If I put my mind to it, I *could* have the coop/run finished in a couple of weeks after I get back to it. I didn't want to get back to building until after the kids were back at school (Sep 7). We've been so busy this summer, I want their last week to be nothing but down-time. I'm looking at the math on this - the coop would probably be done before the chicks even hatched - and they wouldn't even be able to go out there for quite a few weeks. Hmmmm. So tempting!

Question... would eggs from Michigan be ruined before they got here? I don't know of any local Light Brahma breeders. I'd be spending $20 (eggs+shipping) for 6 eggs. Not that it is too much money - but it is a lot more than I paid for my chicks. I doubt they are show quality, if they were, I'm guessing the ad would say so. I don't want a mixed Brahma though - I love the Light Brahma personality! I'm not looking for show quality birds (Drama's a hatchery bird), I'm just looking for new Light Brahma pen-mates for Drama before she gets too big to be in the first coop. She's my baby - and I don't want her to get stuck in a coop/run by herself if she outgrows it before I can grow some babies old enough to move in with her.

Holy...uh, doodoo?! Tomorrow I am going to be picking up silkie babies from ChickSlick in Benton City!!! AND I got a message from Shyla that she will be coming towards my way and is willing to bring one of her silkie cockerals! I am soooo excited and a little freaked as I thought I was done for the year getting new birds! Silkies were the one exception to my decision to stop for the year!!! My flock is becoming increasingly "mixed"!! It gets complicated when you have several age groups. They are all under a year!!
In the main part of the coop I have 25wk olds, 15wk olds and 10wk olds. In the brooder we have 7wk, 6wk and one 4wk olds. Now the 2nd brooder will have new-news!! My hub has finally given up and told me to do whatever!
I think for the main coop I may switch to flock raiser to bump up the protein and then offer oyster shells for the 3 layers. I have been feeding Layena Omega-3 and sneaking chick start to the 10 & 15w/o but it's not easy to do as the older ones discover it and bully the others out of the way! Is Flock Raiser with oyster shell a good choice in my situation??? The layers are in no way near fat and I figure fall is around the corner so a little more chub may be helpful. They do range on 2cres of field and yard so they get good excercise.
