I'd take them in a heartbeat if we had more room, just to save them from your neighbor

I'm sure you'll find some good homes soon.

Yeah, they are the owners of the sire of the babies--and raise Boers so they butcher several every fall...they have been eyeing the buckling for a week now! LOL

You'r suppose to have you paper work in by the 14th for the Evergeen poultry show.
I have the form and it loos like I'm not going to enter due to the fact my birds do not have leg bands.
ALL BIRDS MUST BE BANDED it says.
[email protected] is josh
That's who is running the show there.
See ya' there!!!

OK, total non-chicken post but...

... Has anyone tried "Red" the Metropolitan Market house wine?!?! It's stupendous!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm on my second glass... <hic>. What the heck... it's Friday night. Maybe I'll got for glass #3 and be asleep by 8.

I've struggled with mites on my banty cochin. None of my other birds have gotten the darn things.

Go to your local big box home store, Lowe's, Home Depot, or a small hardware store, and get some Seven Dust 5% in the garden section. It comes in a cylindrical container that's yellow & red.

Along with the Seven, get a dust mask.

Grab yourself a chicken, hold her down, and dust liberally. Lift her wings, push feathers back, and make sure you get the vent. Do all the chickens.

When you're done, thoroughly clean your coop. dust the coop, paying close attention to the roost bar(s) and crevices, where mites like to live.

You'll notice that all the mites will be gone in a day, but you're not done.

You'll have to re-dust the chickens in 5 days if there are more mites. This is because Seven doesn't kill eggs.

I had to trim the leg feathers on my banty. She's always damp b/c her legs are so short and it's muddy here. She get anemic really quickly when she has mites b/c she's only 20 ounces.

Good luck & keep us posted!

we have never had a issue with mites.....we use DE all the time, I dont know if that will help once you have mite, but it's a good provenative(sp) you can get food grade DE at Orchards feed 50 pounds for a great price, and it will last you FOREVER

We'll be stopping by at the Cascade Show. Snohomish County 4-H Poultry Program will be holding a Judging Contest there that morning that we will be participating in, and then we'll have a little look around.

Tiff,
Thank you so much for responding! I called this little store in Portland, I've been trying to support and they were charging $7 for 1.5lbs. that sounded outrageous! I'll definitely be going to the orchards feed store tomorrow.

I'll probably do something to get rid of them to begin with, spray or bath, or something, then use diatomaceous earth from here on out.

no problem....
hey... any they are getting more chicks on the 20th

DH is leaving for a few weeks so I have free run to do what ever I want..........hmmmmm, might add to the flock while he is away! LOL
