Poor guys. Yes, "growing pains" are very real...I STILL remember mine...and mine were always in the legs. Excruciating, and nothing to be done about it...

I don't use medication - except for last resort. Do you think Children's Tylenol will help? Last night was one of those completely helpless mommy nights. The last two nights of getting my daughter to go to sleep was difficult. She cried the night before half the night in the room we were staying in. It's hard to watch your child sob and scream she's in pain and you don't have a clue how to fix it. Unfortunately, we didn't think to bring children's pain meds on our trip, so I had nothing to give her. By the time we got home last night, she finally dropped off to sleep. She was too exhausted after hours of screaming and crying on the road. My poor husband - he was driving, and his nerves were pretty shot by the time we got home.

I don't remember growing pains. They must've been so bad I managed to block them from my memory.

My daughter had some discomfort - my son had them really bad, as I did when I was a kid. I can still recall them too - my legs hurt so badly - mostly at night.

Tylanol does help, or Advil. Any mild pain reliever should help.

"Growing pains" certainly are real. all 5 of our children experienced them to different degrees as they were growing up. The boys seemed worse but the girls definitely had the leg pains, too. I remember constant leg pains when I was young...funny I can remember that far back but have trouble remembering what I had for breakfast LOL.

Hmmm. My oldest boy, at times, seems to turn into a hypochondriac. I think I need to question him a little more when he comes up with a new possible ailment. I've kind of just blown off his whining about all his ailments because I get so tired of hearing about them. He complains, but he doesn't cry, so it comes across that he's just creating another thing to worry about. I'm sure, by age 10, he's probably had growing pains, too. I just may not have been sensitive to it because of the way he handles it. He has thought he has had just about everything - from cancer to heavens knows what else. If he hears about someone else having had something go wrong with them, my son jumps to the conclusion that every little pain he has must be what the other person has.

My daughter, on the other hand, makes it very apparent when she's hurting. Everyone around her will be hurting, too! That child's pain cry is not pleasant.

Well that would probably explain it. I know my daughter wore those pants we brought within the last 2 weeks. We could not get them on her, at all. They got stuck on her thighs. Absolutely shocked me.

Severe and frequent growing pains can be a symptom of Celiac Disease (gluten intolerance). If complaints also include frequent intestinal upset, stomach cramps, and canker sores in the mouth, at least look into the possibility.

Being around our children every day we frequently don't notice the little growth spurts in our kids until, suddenly, NONE of their clothes fit!

Very interesting article! What struck me is the correlation of growing pains in the legs and migraine headaches. My daughter frequently has bad headaches. I don't know that they are migraines because she has never thrown up. I think I'll bring a print-out of this pdf to her next well-check-up.

They also mentioned Restless Leg Syndrome. I have that very bad, and have had it all my life. Last night I wondering if she might be developing that. I'm hoping it is just growing pains. I wouldn't wish RLS on anyone! It is miserable. I don't take meds for it because I'm allergic to so many medications. We still don't know why. My doc suspects that eggs are used as a filler in medication.

Went out to let the birds out. Rhodie's in the nest box. Caunnie was standing in the run and kept squatting - with no one near her. Drama's face is very red today - and she looks like she's grown even more! Hopefully the mystery of who laid that 2nd brown egg will be solved today. Needless to say, no one got let out. I want eggs deposited in the nest box. I'm hoping to see 3, so I can figure out who's laying what color.
