I'm probably going to get crucified for this, but I'm kinda creeped out by the fact that RaZ's post about dogs v. children is getting support here. If you choose to have sex and it results in a child, then providing for that child is YOUR responsibility, no matter how you may feel about that child's other parent. Let's stop blaming women for unwanted children. Let's stop poo-pooing the institution of child support. I think if your child is in prison, you should take a good look at YOURSELF, not blame someone else or whine about how much money you had to shell out. Did anyone ever tell you kids would be cheap?!?

Not that we see completely eye to eye on some things, but I also see people putting more value (not people here so much, just an entire culture in general) on rescuing animals instead of rescuing children and babies and putting a high value on PEOPLE; children are people, and so precious at that.

Got a email today (below) that has some great stuff possible for making creating decorating etc!
Second Use's final moving sale starts today! Visit the South Park store from Sept. 10-16 and receive 10 percent off your entire purchase. Take a sneak peak at what's in stock here. Not included in the moving sale are fish pavers, Mac flooring, Mac beadboard, burlap sacks, MetroPaint and some consigned items. In addition to the moving sale, Second Use has dropped the prices on many items, and staff continues to stock clearance racks. See recent price drops here. Note, from now until the move, only four-hour holds will be allowed.

Don't forget to join Second Use for its grand opening party Oct. 13 in the new space at 3223 6th Ave. S. in Seattle's SoDo neighborhood! The day will include 10 percent off sales, speakers, tours, music and snacks. For more information about the new store, visit seconduse.com/newstore.
I've been there several times, and it is a cool store. I will definitely make a trip over there this week.

Thanks, Jess. I know sometimes I come off as harsh, but for the record, I don't have a problem with people who do things differently than I do, and I like you, for what it's worth. As long as someone isn't using their religion to justify harming or oppressing others, directly or indirectly, I have no problem with religion. I myself grew up Presbyterian and it was mostly a fun, positive thing. I had a very troubled adolescence, and a woman who worked at our church half-raised me during my teen years. We are still very close and she now works for a Presbyterian church in a different state. I do think the extreme, evangelical wing of Christianity that is so rapidly growing in this country is scary as hell. THAT is what I have a problem with!!!

But just because I'm a lefty, punk-rock bohemian doesn't mean everyone has to be!

Anyone going to the show in Salem?????

I wish! I'm hoping I can go in spring. I have enjoyed the show when it was in Stephenson the past couple of years, but can only really justify one big chicken show that includes a road trip with hotel, food, entertainment once a year since it means $$$ and DH having to be responsible for the care and feeding of all the animals here in Suburbia.

No, it's his step son....not his biological son....he took responsibility for the kid, instead of spending that money on the dog, and the dog died.

No debate here, just sharing.

I just wanted to re-post a funny photo I took the other day. I was trying to take a pic of my little Serama, Veronica, when Gryffin decided he would pretend to be oblivious and insert himself in the photo. I love the way he does that. Like, "What? You're holding a camera? Oh, I didn't know you were taking a picture of the chicken. I was just looking at something over there".

And another I took this summer while we were vacationing at the ocean. I love the unabashed JOY on Gryffin's face while he waits in anticipation. This is my DD holding the "Chuck It" while teaching Gryffin to "sit and wait." as he practically vibrates with excitement.
