OK bear with be a bit while I bore ya. Or you may wish to just skip all of this post and wonder what ya missed.

First I want to say that it is a pleasure for me to see several "old timers" dropping back in. I hope they decide to stick around.

I am really going to stick my neck out here (imagine that) and say that from what I have gathered several of the older members have backed away due to too many changes here. And what has the appearance of others wanting to turn this thread into what they would like it to be rather than to participate in the thread as it has been for many years.
Now while I am only one little person on this whole thread it would be my suggestion that newer people set back and observe a bit. Now I am not suggesting that you not post I am just saying maybe get a feel of how things before you get to carried away. As an example I will use myself and RonB. Now many new people may see things between Ron and I and think that we do not get along. That is the farthest from the truth. Ron and I are VERY good friends but we have a good time teasing each other here. BTW were it not for BYC I would not know MANY of my AWESOME friends I won't take up the space to name them but they know.
I do not normally try to hurt feelings but sometimes it happens by mistake. And on rare occasion I will do it on purpose but it takes a lot to push me that far. I will be one of the first to go to bat for my BYC buddies.
And finally I want to say that in light of a recent event I realize that I should not read, post, read, post read, post. I really should read, read, read, then post but it is an old habit and so hard to break.
OK so hang me if ya will but I hope this may shed a little light on a lot of things around here.
Sincerely Rob
Something I have also noticed in general is that people tend to read inflections into emails and blogs. You almost need to be more careful and add additional emoticons to let people know if there are inflections so they pick up the right ones rather than making assumptions, as you cannot otherwise notify people by tone or facial expressions. My brother is terribly offensive as an email writer so I know from experience! Last year my Mom sent out an email asking the family who was willing to host Christmas day and his email came back "We will have Christmas at our house." Instead of coming accross as kind and generous to agree to host he came across as a jerk! In my mind the correct way to verse that sentence would have been "We would be happy to host Christmas day at our house." Email can be touchy! Have a great day all and email cautiously!

Anyone know where to get a good price on clear corrugated roofing panels? I need to cover my run before winter and $21 a panel at HD or Lowes is a bit steep especially since I would need to buy 3 of them as they are not very wide. Thanks!

If you find a package deal on them, I need some for my run as well! Just 3 or 4 of the 8 foot long ones. I'd love to save some money, this coop project has gotten out of control.

I got my silkie eggs this morning! They are so *tiny*! Such cute little things. I should be getting my Wyandotte eggs this afternoon, and then I can finally put them all in the incubator. It's been holding steady around 99.5 degrees and about 58% humidity.

Yes, I also want to know where to find cheap or free corrugated roofing!

So the eggs that were under the silkie got cold to often. Friday was day 21. One hatched yesterday morning, one yesterday evening, and one this morning. The last egg is pipped and has started zipping. For eggs I thought were infertile, and I couldn't bring myself to toss a week in, they are a nice surprise.

One is odd colored and has mutant feet. It can get around fine, but the back toes are weird. It sort of looks like duck foot, but weird. Doesn't help the poor thing is missing the toenail area on the outer toes. I tried taping the feet, but the back toes just don't really bend that way. As long as it doesn't have any issues with getting around, it really doesn't matter to me, it will be a pet anyway. I'm thinking I need a house chicken.

DH has other thoughts on that. But a chicken at hand to eat spiders inside sounds very good to me.

Quote: At the end of their lives, my dogs were very expensive. It needed to be spent to make their last years comfortable, but it is something to consider before getting a dog.

I'm allergic to animals, too. I have lived with dogs and cats because people I love loved them, but they're not being replaced. Mr Hallerlake's cat, Rosie, is the last. When she goes, that's it for house pets. I'll stick to chickens.
