Well, now I've done it...just bought myself an early birthday present...was going to spend $100 on some new boots...but instead, spent $200 on a pair of bantams.

Not a new breed, just a new color. I'm starting to get slightly addicted to Wyandotte bantams....hmmm....might need them in every color...must have more coops....hmmm....

Guess I need to move a few more breeds out here to make room for my newest additions...speaking of which, I think I have my Houdans sold, so that's good.

I'm also excited to have gotten 2 new birds today! One gorgeous blue Am and an equally gorgeous, bare bottomed BCM

Gonna get some BluKote tomorrow maybe, to see if I can keep my other birds from plucking her behind even more. Seems like her skin is a bit rough, almost scab-like, so I don't know if she needs a good moisturizer (like maybe Bag Balm?) too? Anyone use that on chickens before?

I have a recipe for a raspberry crisp--that would surely work with blackberries, too...if you need more "ideas." All of my raspberries & blackberries that were FINALLY starting to produce berries burned up last summer...so this summer, they spent all of their "energy" regrowing.

I made chocolate chip scones tonight (my first-ever-attempt). They're not too bad, actually. One batch got a little burnt, but the second batch turned out perfectly cooked. I have another recipe for a bacon/cheddar scone I'm going to try this weekend....when I have time. I didn't want to cook the bacon while Audrey was asleep. LOL

Ya know I would really like to be adopted by a nice family on the "DRY SIDE"

What we need is a meetup at the auction sometime in advance...LOTS of advance planning. My DS has football games for the next 6 Saturdays at 10am in Kent. The very next weekend I could come, and I plan to! I'll throw out a date for that several weeks ahead of time and hopefully more people can come; I am so sad I couldn't make it last weekend nor can I come this weekend

Yeah I lost money on those Houdans...but those funds will go towards paying for these new bantams of mine...paying myself back. I'm hoping that in one or two egg auctions, they'll pay for themselves. At least, that is the hope.

I have used bag balm...it's okay...pine tar is better. It's a heck of a mess and stinky but it works to keep the others from pecking at her...blue kote also is okay...unless you do what I did with it--have the chicken flap and spray your face with purple dots, all over. They stain really, really bad. LOL
