What kind of thermometer do you guys use in your brooders? Right now I'm using a meat thermometer (oh, the irony... and their future in-garage dust bath will be a roasting pan... LOL... yes, there are times that I find humor in the most inappropriate things). The meat thermometer works fine, except one of the chicks have taken to it as a pillow. When chicks sleep on the meat thermometer, you don't get accurate readings.

I use a wired indoor/outdoor OR I use a wireless.
That way I can put the reciever in the kitchen & know what the temp is in the brooder/incubator...but fair warning...the chicks LOVE to peck the little tiny red sending unit out (that is attached on the end of the wire) and then it is useless....![]()
So I make sure (now) that the end of the wire where this sending thingy is, is duct taped to the brooder wall.
Where did you find a wired indoor-outdoor thermometer? I need to replace mine, and the wireless kind don't read through low-E coated windows.
