SEATTLE – Dick's Drive-in, a Seattle hamburger institution, announced Monday it is going to open a new restaurant for the first time in 36 years.

But first, it wants the public's input on where the new joint should be.

"We are considering areas both within the city of Seattle and outside the city of Seattle for the new drive-in. So, anything within 20 miles of the University of Washington is fair game," said Dick's Vice-President Jim Spady.

Dick's has set up a poll for new locations at its website.

Dick's started in Seattle's Wallingford neighborhood in 1954, selling 19 cent hamburgers and 11 cent French fries. Its other locations are in Crown Hill, Queen Anne, Capitol Hill and Lake City.

The new restaurant will employ about 20 people. Dicks has a reputation for offering higher-than-normal fast food wages plus great benefits and scholarship programs for employees.

Crazy week here.

On a sad note, my Grandfather, fondly known as Papa, passed away yesterday. Alzheimers stole the man he was long ago, but he will still be sorely missed.

On a happy note, Shannon also ended up winning Champion in Showmanship for the Junior class on Sunday, so she did awesome at fair. So did my other girls. It was a fun time. Today is first day of school too, so they will be dragging big time by the weekend.

Well for the second year in a row , I have gone to the fair on Monday afternoon and the chicken barn has been CLOSED

they are switching out the chickens and rabbitts I think. Anybody know??? moving out 4-H ????

Yes, the Rabbit & Poultry Barn closes on the first Monday of fair at 5:30 for a change over. The 4-H kids take their Rabbits and Poultry home that night and the open class Poultry moves in until Friday night when there is another change over and the Open Class Rabbits move in until the end of fair on Labor Day. Sorry you missed it! Come earlier in the day on Monday and you will be fine.

It was nice to meet Mark today when he picked up his Lav Orp babies. Hope the trip back to Whidbey Island went well!

Hope everyone is enjoying the rain.

Oh my what a wet day! Just a hair under an inch collected in my rain gage over the past 24 hours... Whew. The poor horses were soaked to the bone and shivering at 7 this morning.

My little mixed flock is now in the new coop and run, that I built over the past three days. "Well I didn't build the coop in three days, that took 4 days by itself." I think they are all a little bit mad at me. This is the first time that this flock has ever been locked up.

I figured I would keep them locked in for a few days, and then let them out to range. My poor lil roo must be really unhappy, I havn't heard him crow once today.

I will eventually post some photos of the new set up. I think I did fairly well concidering I didn't have any help building the coop or the run, plus the fact that everything I used is recycled material.

I'm pretty proud of myself!

Hope everyone has been able to stay dry. Cause I know I wasn't able too.

Question to you gardeners...
I'm growing pumkins for the first time, and out of 12 plants I only have maby 3 pumpkins forming, and about 8 flowers with the start of fruit hidden underneath... What on earth did I do wrong? Will the little fruits under the flowers have enough time to mature before the growing season is over? I planted them in mid May like I was instructed, the plants were pre started by a farmer in Renton, then given to me with instructions. And now I am at a loss with no-body local to ask for help... Could someone with more experience please give me some advice?

Thanks guys!
