I'm sorry about your Papa. Losing a loved one is never easy.

Shannon's birds looke good. Was it Wynona that won?
We loved Penny & Nickel, the bantam cochins. Would she send them to live with another Shannon (me)?
Is your other girl Megan? My husband thought they were related...

Cheryl, I doubt you did anything wrong with your pumpkins. The weather this year was only good for growing mushrooms, nothing that likes heat or sun. And unless we get hot Fall it is unlikely the little pumpkins will have time to get big or orange, but you might end up with some small green pumpkins.

This morning a neighbor and I did a dump run in the pouring rain. I think I was as cold and wet as your horses.

On a fun note, I had a blue & yellow parakeet move into my backyard a couple weeks ago. I caught it. I've been trying to find the owner without luck. So now it's mine. I decided to keep it. Went shopping for it's new home today. It seems to like its new home.

On a bummer note. Today is the last day of my vacation, back to the real world tomorrow.

Yes, Wynona (BLRW) won both Champion Pullet and Reserve best in show. And yes, I have 3 girls and Megan is one of them too. Shannon said she'd sell Nickel, the silver laced bantam cochin, but not Penny the partridge. I did already offer Nickel to Chasehope, another member here who is coming to pick up a few of my roos on Sunday, as she was looking for a bantam pullet/hen, but I'm not sure if she's interested. I can let you know after Sunday if she's available.

Yes, the Rabbit & Poultry Barn closes on the first Monday of fair at 5:30 for a change over. The 4-H kids take their Rabbits and Poultry home that night and the open class Poultry moves in until Friday night when there is another change over and the Open Class Rabbits move in until the end of fair on Labor Day. Sorry you missed it! Come earlier in the day on Monday and you will be fine.

I planted 5 squash plants of different varieties this year in my garden from seed. They grown large and healthy, but not a single one has set ANY fruit. I've only been gardening in western WA for 7 years, but this is the first time this has happened to me. I'm mystified as well. Not enough pollinators was the only reason I've been given when I asked a master gardener. I've seen a few bees because I plant lots of flowers they love, but I haven't seen a lot. Apparently you can pollinate by hand, but it's a little too late for that now . . .

Well, I have been gone for almost 5 days...we were up camping at Conconully. Had a great time, did some fishing. The deer were really thick in the park. There were does with babies all over and they were all fat and sassy. Actually had one doe come into our camp and wouldn't leave. We did a no-no and gave her some carrots...course she first tried to steal my peach pie off of the picnic table. We knoow it was the wrong thing to do, deer can be dangerous, but it was cool. I kept the picnic table between her and myself.

The chickens are still speaking to us, even though they have been locked up for 5 days. Wow, did they throw a tizzy when they were let out last night....straight to my veggie garden to see what they could dig up.

Wel, I will try and read all the back posts and get caught up now.

You fish upper or lower? My favorite place to fish.
I have fished lower now more. Much better luck in a boat then shore. Fish there taste great.
How was the water level?

There is a great road that takes you high above the lower lake. it's a bit scary if someone else comes down it. LOL!
But beautiful views from top..............
