I don't know if they offer a discount for bulk or not but if did want to tell you that you can save $60 a year on feed from coupons in the Poultry Press if you don't subscribe to that yet.

PP is a good newspaper. I used to read it all from front to back. Don't anymore but there are still "can't miss" articles from time to time and the $60 savings makes it all worthwhile.

God Bless,

Wow I haven't been on in awhile! This thread got huge! haha.

I was in Dels last Saturday and had to resist bringing some chicks home with me.

I don't think my parents would have appreciated me heading back to school and leaving them with little fuzzies to care for.

There's a few things I don't like about Del's, 1)that you HAVE to buy a min of 6 chicks, 2) they don't have nearly as many as Monroe Farm and Feed by the fair grounds, 3) they don't seem to like answering lots of questions from a new chicken owner and 4) when you order chicks from them you have to get 25, I'd rather have them sent to my home from the hatchery to save a little money.

With Monroe Farm and Feed, 1) you can buy only what you want, be it 1 chick or hundreds, 2) the past 3 weeks they've been getting in over 1,000 chicks, many times over 10 different breeds and even water fowl, 3) they answered all my questions without making me feel stupid or like I was bothering them, and 4) if I want only a few of a breed they will order at anytime during the year, they put a special order in for me.

So now because of the customer service I've gotten at Monroe Farm and Feed and the service I've gotten at Dels, I only go to Monroe Farm and Feed.

I have had issues with Del's chicks not growing too. I bought 6 chicks from Del's, and some from Monroe farm & feed and the Snohomish Co-op. The ones from Monroe and Snohomish grew amazingly, however the 6 I got from Del's were scrawny and I just couldn't keep weight on them. I have no idea why either. I separated them and gave them their own feed away from the other chicks, checked for parasites, etc. It was strange...especially since the Snohomish Co-op and Del's go through the same hatchery!

They also don't have much of a variety! Compared to the other stores who have a large variety of chicks every year. And with Snohomish Co-op (I dont know if they still do this or not) they do private orders through the hatchery. I order ducks through them! I love how friendly they are too all the employees are willing to answer questions and help out!

I did go to the Snohomish Co-op. There was a nice older guy there and he was real nice and you can tell he just loves chickens. They didn't have any when we went in and we didn't buy anything, but he was real nice to my 3 yr old. Gave her popcorn and all.

If it is who I am thinking of then I adore that guy! He is so sweet! All of the older employees are so nice to me all the time. Their chick days is coming up though...first weekend in April if I remember correctly! They generally have a good variety of breeds plus straight run ducks and geese.

WOW I have not read all of this but did read a lot and I am sooo amazed at the feelings about Del's in the Monroe area. I am in Ethel which is on HWY 12 15 miles sw of Chehalis. We are first time chicken people. We went to The Farm Store ( formerly Darigold) and got 3 BSL, and 3 GSL chicks and then since they didn't have any RIR which we think we wanted. We went to Del's. Now I have to say that since Del's became part of TSC (did ya know that) I think they have a better variety of things and prices seem a little lower. However I think most of the help (except a couple of the older leftovers) should be sent kickin rocks. I will not go where I am bothering them to buy what I need. The Farm Store is a much freindlier place. I guess that comes with LOCAL ownership.
You folks in Monroe are not alone it seems to be common with Del's.

Monroe Farm & Feed is definitely one I recommend if someone has to go to a feed store. Kim, Barry, & Rory and friendly, helpful, and always have appreciated my business. Never act as if they're doing me a favor by being there for me to do business with them.

Now, to the person who met me at the show and wanted to get rid of five Welsummer roosters, if you see this - please email me!!

God Bless,

I haven't been to Del's but as a newbie I really liked how Monroe Farm & Feed was really friendly even though we came in at 5 min to closing, was really helpful when we were asking about the chicks and supplies, told us when they expected to get chicks of each breed my kids still wanted to get, and was great at answering questions when I asked about a vet or help with Gert.

I also found the people at the Snohomish Co-op to be nice and helpful but they don't seem to get as many chicks as often or know what they're getting in. I'll probably buy some things there as they are closer (and if you join and spend enough you get patronage refunds
