Probably what i would be doing. Hate creepy-crawly spiders. icky.

Hey girl, I use Oxine and folks swear by it. I have not noticed anything special about it unless you activate it and then it is dangerous stuff and will kill your birds if you spray them. It will kill all the bugs in your coop and everywhere but I do not activate it. I add some in the water to keep green gunk away.I also fogg the birds when they have colds and it works or should I say helps them to breath easier.

I have a very-very small sign, at all entrances to my house, at spider height, that all spiders will be killed on sight. I do not like spiders. They have a very good purpose and usefullness, but they must stay outside. If you try to relocate them to outside, I believe they will just reenter my home, as it is warmer, darker, whatever - nicer. So all who enter die - if I can get to them. Yeesh.

All spideys that are outside are pampered and allowed to live, as long as they do not run over my hand or foot or leg or etc, while I am in the vegetable garden working. They must keep their distance. Some are even pretty to look at - but again, outside of house and at a distance.

Just not a spidey fan. I can handle snakes, mice, and most other bugs. No spideys

Got back late last night from our Annimooniversary Cruise to the Caribbean. Just lovely! The Cayman Islands are filled with 'wild' chickens. They run amok everywhere. Very fun to watch.
Already at work this am at 7:30am and still here! Argh!
Sounds like the chickens did fine under the caretaker's watchful eye but one of them didn't want him to get the eggs yesterday afternoon.

How early does a girl go broody? They're only 6 months old!

Hello, We've just moved to Poulsbo, WA (Kitsap county across the sound from Seattle) all the way from St. Marys, GA (military). We've been here for a few months now, and I just got around to asking the owners of our house if we could have some chickens and they were more than happy to say we could! I don't know the chicken laws here, so any info would be great. Also any info on local places I could get a few chicks would be appreciated too. I'd rather not order them unless I'm ordering eggs to hatch. We did that in GA and had a lot of fun hatching chicks, but I left the incubator back at my parents farm in VA for them to use.

A quick google search seems to make Poulsbo as less than chicken friendly. Here's some info I found on the Poulsbo site:

18.48.030 Agricultural uses.
Includes the raising of livestock, poultry and small animals (less than one hundred fifty pounds).

A. No raising of livestock, poultry and small animals (other than household domestic animals), shall be conducted on residential lots less than twenty thousand square feet in size.

B. On parcels of land greater than twenty thousand square feet but less than one acre, the raising of livestock, poultry and small animals (other than household domestic animals) shall be permitted by a conditional use permit.

C. On parcels of land greater than one acre, the number of animals per forty thousand square feet of area shall not exceed one large livestock (e.g., horse, cow, etc.) or three small livestock (sheep, pig, etc.), and six small animals or twelve poultry. If no dwelling unit or occupied structure exists within three hundred feet of the lot on which the animals are maintained, the above specifications may be exceeded by a factor of two.

D. No feeding area, structure or building used to house, confine or feed livestock, small animals or poultry shall be located closer than two hundred feet to any residence on adjacent property located within an RL, RM or RH district; provided, that a pasture greater than twenty thousand square feet shall not be considered a feed area. Odor, dust, noise, flies, or drainage shall not be permitted to create or become a nuisance to surrounding property. (Ord. 2003-10 § 1 (Exh. A, III(C)), 2003)

Ack! lol ok I'll have to reread that and check with the city then. Thanks; I tried googling it , but I guess my googling skills are lacking because I couldn't find what you just found. Thanks again. The owners said they had chickens, ducks, rabbits, and goats on the property.... I wonder if the laws were different when they last lived in the house.
