where on the Plateu do you live? Thats where I grew up

. 2 of my chickens live up there at my mom's. I live off of W. Lk Samm. PKWY SE, right by the State Park​

Wow, I leave for a short while and y'all are so prolific! I've been busy with my new job and the frequent changes to my schedule and whatnot.

My special little boy, Quasimodo, passed away last week. He was a runt, only had one good eye, and had a twisted beak, but he was a fighter and one of the smartest and friendliest birds I've ever known. Unfortunately I had to put them all outside, and because he was a very social bird and had a good fighting spirit, I put him out with them. He was doing well, and then one morning I found him dead. Honestly, I think he missed me. Every time I went out there he'd try to leave with me. I miss him very much. He was kinda ugly, but how many other chicks come when called and climb up on your shoulder and are the first to learn ANYTHING? I buried him in a very special place for a very special guy.

And the lone RIR I have left... is a cockerel I think. Darn! Anyone want a RIR roo? My 3 Wheaten Marans are doing well. They're growing so large, they're the size of the bantam pullet I am keeping with them, and they're only 7 weeks old! I have a sneaky suspicion that I have 2 cockerels. Did anyone get too many pullets and wanna trade?

Not just sun, but was this a heat wave?! I was out this afternoon in a tank top and a long jean skirt and felt WONDERFUL! In fact, DH was working without his shirt on... much to the neighbor's dismay, I'm sure. He's so white, Casper laughs @ him.

It's still nice feeling outside!

BTW: Thank you Uplate and Jenn. I have many fond memories of him, and I was prepared for him not to see adult hood because of his many birth issues. 5 weeks was a lot longer than I expected him to last, and if it wasn't for having to go outside, I suppose he would have survived longer.
