Hey Laura, sorry to hear about Joe. I am glad to hear though that it wasn't more severe than it was. Tell him I hope that the finger wasn't on his casting hand!

God Bless,

He wasn't walkin ON the mastiff, he was walking the mastiff, lol. We had just gotten the dog and it was showing severe aggression towards us, so until we got him to a behavoirist we were walking him hoping to wear him out and thinking that might make him calmer. Didn't work and after meeting the behaviorist we euthinized him, this was after he tried to bite me in the face.

God Bless,

Well, he's left handed and it was his left hand. But don't worry, nothing will stop him from fly fishing this year, lol.

Thank you. The worst thing is that we got him from his first owners and they came to our house and knew we had children. They failed to tell us about his aggression, even when I asked them directly if he's ever shown any signs of aggression. I found out when I called the Mastiff rescue for some help that he had tried to bite his first owners and that was the reason they were getting rid of him. They had called the rescue and were told by them that they would euthinize him as soon as he showed any agression, so the first owners put an ad on CL and we got him. He was a beautiful 115 lb 1 1/2 yr old. One day I will get another English Mastiff, but I'll get it as a puppy and be very picky about the breeder. Right now I've got a boxer and 2 pits, I do fear that my boxer is going to be a chicken killer if she gets the chance.

I have a couple of Bantam White Wyandotte boys that I am trying to rehome if you are interested. I am in Monroe though and I am not sure how far that is from you (Sorry, still new enough here I dont know my location in accordance with most others

)

BTW, if anyone is interested, I will have 6+ Buff Silkie Eggs that will be ready for pick-up or shipping either Satruday or Monday.

Hi Everyone!
New to the community, but lovin' it. I'm out here in Auburn - 1/4 acre and finally my husband stopped protesting when I mentioned getting chickens and just started rolling his eyes, which meant he was ON BOARD!
Converting my shed to a coop (it is a monster) with a run out the back. Picture and stuff soon!

Well, now I know the REAL reason you called that roo "SATAN!" It was NOT for his devil-horn comb--it was because he's terribly mean! He came at me last night with spurs & beak. Caught me right in the face with a wing and clawed my arm. The second attack, I sent him flying across the coop....and the third, he got a bucket of water on him. This morning, he was back to acting shy and reserved. I told him that if it happens again, he'll be getting the ax!

Hello, I've been lurking about the BYC site for a couple months now and thought is was time to introduce myself. I'm a newbie to chickens, we got our 2 1/2 month old pullets the end of February. This site has been such a great resource. My DH built a great little coop, pretty inexpensively-visit our page for pictures. I'm in Aberdeen, almost on the coast of Southwestern WA.

We have eight hens about four months old now and are really enjoying them. They are really easy keepers! We have them set up next to my green house - so on nice evenings we're enjoying pulling up a chair and watching chickens, who would have ever thunk chickens would be so entertaining.

They seem to be doing really, really well. All are fat and very active, all seem to be getting along, there are two that seem to be the alpha hens, but not to much "hen pecking".

I am hoping for eggs around the first of May. I am fairly certain they are all hens, no spurs no big combs or wattles and most importantly no crowing. They are now fully feathered except for those cute fuzzy butts, does that stay or do they eventually loss those?

Hey I was sure I was the only BYC member way out here on the coast! These chickens are amazingly addictive! Did you happen to get your Wynadottes from a nice older guy way out the Wynooche Valley? I felt like I was at a petting zoo, but I don't think my DH will go for a pygmy goat....not anytime soon
