I'm tempted to take the Wyandotte, Polish and Australorp. I need to check with the husband...and try to figure out what we would use for a heat lamp.

My chickens are almost 4.5wks old, how hard would it be to introduce the new ones, once the new ones are bigger?

I would love to have the buff, the black and the barred. But since you are in Tacoma and I am I-5 off exit 68 I think that would be some pretty expensive chicks.
If you don't find a home for some of them let me know and I will see what I can do. I maen 3-4 more on top of our 20 wouldn't really matter now would it ( considering that we were only going to have 12). I think I need to get vaccinated. I think I have the chicken illness.

I would be thrilled to take all of them, we are all set up but don't own any chickens currently, we've owned many in the past, a flock of 24 barred rock gals for 4 yrs, a flock of 10 mutts for 2 yrs, and japanese banties for 10+ yrs... we have 30 acres, 2 great pyrs, premire electric net fencing, a huge barn with laying area, chicen wired runs, feeders, heat lamps etc etc, if you'd make an exception for the 'already an owner' rule we will take anything and everything! we're so anxious to have chickens again!!!

Also, anyone in WA, Or or CA don't forget we are hauling animals June 5th and could pick up and drop off anyone along I-5 anywhere between the Canadian border and Mexico...

Hi Cheri - I emailed you back w/ contact info. Best to contact me during work hours at my office. I've sent you my work email, too.

GREAT NEWS! A friend of mine who lives on property in Eatonville just offered to take the BSL and a polish. Wonder if I shoudl give her the cochin & extra polish, too?

Living in lovely little Chimacum, WA - 10 miles south of Port Townsend on the Olympic Peninsula. Currently mom to a dozen barred rock, auracuna, new hampshire, partridge rock, plus new delawares and buff orp babies - in addition to horses, llamas and the requisite barn cats and mongrel dogs.
Many thanks to JennsPeeps for introducing me to BYC!!

So my husband gave the go ahead on getting some EEs for mother's day!!! He did say two but he's also going to be gone all next week and it could be one from him and one from each of my DD's so that would have to be three...Right!

You need 3. What if something happens to one or is a roo?

Here's a brief lesson in chicken math:

My flock was supposed to be just 2 birds. I got 3. Then found a bird on CL.
Total: 4

One died last month.
Total: 3

Got 2 more.
Total: 5

Was going to get 1 more (or so DBF thought) but then added 2 on top of that when our BR died.
Total: 8

Then I got a surprise order (administrative mix-up at the hatchery

for me!) of 14 yesterday. After finding homes for 12, I'm keeping 2.
Total 10

In less than a year my flock, whose intended size was 2, has quintupled to 10. Oops.

Thanks for the heads up! Now, what is "Coastal" and do they have them all over WA or just where you are? I'm in Granite Falls and don't recognize the name.

God Bless,
