Remove the eggs from the nest area you don't want them to use and try and discourage them from going back there. Maybe put a temporary piece of fencing over it if you need to. You may want to place a couple of eggs in the new nest boxes for the first few days and that should help them figure it out.

We found 2 nest in our front garden bed this past week. Only a few eggs in each, but they must like it under the shady hosta plants!

Not sure how I missed this thread so far.. Anna in Everett WA (well, "Unincorporated Snohomish County" at least until Lake Stevens decides to annex it)

I'm expecting my first chicks tomorrow, I just wish I knew what post office was going to be calling me.

Both times I got the call at 7:30 am. I live outside of Mt. Vernon so I would assume you will get an early call. I left info with my name and home and cell numbers at the front desk of the post office to give them a heads up they were coming. (I went down and got them instead of having them come to the house) One time they arrived a day late. Good luck

Nyrail - They called me at 7am when I ordered. Everyone showed up bright and happy too. Don't be afraid to give them a buzz and let them know today your expecting a call tomorrow. They'll let you in really early (in the back door or something) to sign for them and to pick them up.

Bikergirl - That coup is like a 10 on the 1-10 cuteness scale.

Vancouver WA: Americauna roo and mate to sell or trade.

It appears that the two Americauna chicks I bought the first week of June is a Roo and a hen. They have been together since I purchased them and they act like a couple. I had them separate from my older girls and now the hen follows the roo everywhere and he protects her so I am reluctant to separate them. Obviously the hen is not laying yet - I expect she will in early October.

I can't have roosters in my area otherwise I'd love to keep them. I don't think the hen will fare well on her own with the other hens as they already chase her and try to peck her. The roo has been her "protector". Is that common in chicken land? The roo is white with brownish streaks and tufts near the ears. The hen is copper brown with darker brown streaks.

Is anyone out there interested in them? I'd like to trade for a hen that's ready to lay in the next month or so but mostly I'd like to see them go to a place they would be cared for. They've been raised on medicated food, are now on "triple-duty", and they share a night-time coop with my other hens but are in a large run during the day. I am in Vancouver WA.

Have also posted this in the buy/sell/trade forum but wanted to cactch any WA people here.

Thanks.
