Yes, I did get them from Holderreads. I have 10 babies coming this spring from him as well. As soon as my new ones from him and the new ones from two pairs are fully feathered out, I'll be selling some too.... next late summer/fall. I called and talked with Millie and was told that all their adults are sold for this year, so if you're looking for youngens, get your order in early!

Are you heading to the winter classic in Stevenson? I might be interested in one of your muscovies.

When is the Stevenson Classic? That's a LONG drive for me. Probably 6.5 to 7 hours and 350 miles (one way). I only have one (old) pair of Muscovies left. I sold my other one on the 19th.

I'll be going to Portland for Thanksgiving and we usually go I-90 (depending on the snow/passes/weather). So I could transport then.

Yeah, I was originally going to get a pair but they only had blacks. I wanted some new whites...thinking something was wrong with mine...she hardly laid and I NEVER got any eggs to develop...so I never sold any.

They went to a good home, though...

This particular muscovy duck goes broody about once per year and stubbornly so. And she's a GREAT momma. We were on vacation when the eggs hatched and she kept ALL seven alive for the week we were gone...with countless predators around (the babies squeezed out of the pen and she must have flown/climbed because she was out, too!) I'll check out that link, thanks...

Silkies are very hard to hatch, but usually it's not the initial development, it's the hatch that goes wrong. Humidity needs to be way lower than with other ducks. I'll be getting more info from him in October when I go down there to pick up more runners and my BEI's. I'll have more to say next year as well when mine start laying too. If you're interested I'll let you know what I've learned.

I have two projects starting next year. One is the beginning of miniaturizing the black runner, and the other is trying to get the silky bit onto runners... Dunno how that is going to go, but I'm a patient woman and it sounds fun.

I'm headed to Portland this weekend but can't hang onto a roo b/c I live in the city (Tacoma). I'd be willing to bring him this far. Anyone in this area who could "foster" the roo from Sunday onward?
