You people have been too quiet.. I need entertainment@work reading!

What are everyone's plans for Halloween? We're having a late evening party and bonfire - weather permitting - if anyone would like to come. Kids are welcome - costumes are encouraged.

I've been trying to talk my son into coming over, but he adamantly refused! I was a bit miffed. However, I guess it is their "holiday."

I had a great time down south, and brought back 4 gorgeous ducks. My camera just doesn't do them justice or I would plaster pictures in this thread for you all to see. I took advantage of the sun this weekend and took care of the mud problem (read: lots of pea gravel). I still need to work out a decent feeding station though. The pump to my pond is still broken and I'm procrastinating working on it. Maybe this coming weekend I will do that!

Today I'm going to leave work for a while and pick up a pair of muscovies. I wonder if hubby will notice?

I saw on the news last night that Snoqualmie Pass got it's first big snowstorm last night! I always get so excited at the first snow. We have a tradition in my house that when that first snow comes, we drive up late at night to the top of the pass and go play in the snow, building snowmen in the big empty parking lots by the orange light from the street lamps. When the Denny's was still open near there, we'd stop in afterward and warm up with hot cocoa.

It was such a fun tradition when my daughter was still small. She would be thrilled by the chance to get up in the middle of the night and go have an adventure. Those are the memories that I'm going to hold on to.

I didn't end up going last night, but I did the nearest thing possible and lit a beautiful woodsy incense in my room (which was appropriately chilly to replicate the mountains

) and sat sipping hot tea. Compromise!

Snow can STAY AWAY.

I grew up with it, I know how to drive in it, but there are so many people here, from all over the world, that don't, it scares the heck out of me to set tire off my driveway when it does.

Granted, I hear last year was a "bad year"

but it shouldn't take a week to clear my road, which, while it's not a MAIN main road, is still the main road to all the developments in the neighborhood.

It was rather amusing to see the soccer moms (I can say that 'cause in a few years I'm sure I'll be one

) in their SUVs sliding all over the place. 4WD doesn't help any on ice.

The tire chains going 65mph down the freeway, sparking all over the place, were funny too.

Good morning Anna!

Still planning on coming to get the DE tomorrow? Hopefully it won't be too nasty for all of you driving around. I am with you on the snow. I got cabin fever last winter because we only have one car that goes in that much snow. Got my car stuck at the bottom of our driveway because the snow was too deep.

Have a good day!

KM.. sure am. I'm going to make a super run and get feed and groceries too. Being green by combining trips you know

Not only does it get me out of chores, but I get to spend money! For my halloween party! Which I'm not to keen on having anymore. Would be much easier if my "co-host" and her buddies were actually.. helping or something.

All hens are 1.25 years old. Still laying but slower since it is getting into winter. Need to downsize my flock. If you want -- must come get today and bring something to tote in. Thanks.
