Yes we only live about 20 miles away. We have only been there once this past summer. The one time we were there they had a lot of chickens, quail, ducks and a couple turkey. They also had lots of eggs both for hatch and eating. From what I saw the one time we were there I thought it was a pretty well run sale.

Here is the link for scratch and peck http://www.scratchandpeck.com/index.php

I
would love to get some of this, but sure wish I could find a cheaper organic option. $27+ plus shipping is pretty much the going rate. I am happy to see the addition of kelp and yeast for the trace minerals. And they have a feed with crab meal too.

If anybody can get a better deal by ording by the pallet load, let me know. I would like to go in on one, and can get a friend to transport it to me when he is coming this way. Thanks.

Anyone that is interested in butchering chickens

We skin the bird and do not pluck feathers.I am in Enumclaw it would be held at my home. You would need to bring your own bird and zip lock bags for storage on the way home. I will need a PM before releasing my address. Right now I am thinking about sometime Thanksgiving weekend. Donations only. Nothing expected.

Yes, there are probably a lot of people out there like this right now. It's too bad we can't help them all.

Someone in this thread a while back was talking about buying custom feed from a mill and selling it to us, but I can't remember who. I know I go through about 200lbs a month and buy a months worth at a time. I would love to buy something without soy. Anyone else?

I need to make a confession. After speaking with Weavegarden last night I just wanted to put this out here.... mostly to Kim and Nyrial, but I also wanted everyone else to know just in case. <takes a deep breath> Okay. Not only am I socially retarded, I have major social anxiety. I lied to both of you on separate occasions about why I didn't meet up with you. I just totally chickened out. It makes me look flaky, and I guess it does make me that way, but I don't mean to. It's easier for me to meet people once I let them know that I may seem strange, or I may be a motor mouth because I'm nervous... or any of those things that make me look back after meeting someone and say, "Oh my goodness I did not say that!" <sighs> I usually did say that.

I work alone, I have no family out here ('cept the one I made), and though I have lived out here for 20+ years, I've not managed let people into my bubble. So there you have it. My name is Donna and I make people feel awkward.

With that out of the way, Kim, I'll see you on Friday. For sure.. really this time.

I really look forward to seeing you! I hope you will let me into your bubble. It takes a lot to make me feel akward, mostly because I am trying hard not to make someone else feel akward.

I am a self proclaimed DORK! I and I like it that way!

I really think it is a given that if a person raises chickens for the fun of it, they are already a little bit off center. (In the good direction of course)

It is nice to have that confirmed by all of you great people.

So back to the camping in the summer plans. Seriously, anybody want to take on the job of planning this?

Oh my goodness, you all are so wonderful!

Cheryl, it's great to meet you. How fun to have brought out a stalker. Still though, no more twi for me.

Will you be able to make it to the meet up in February? I hope so!

Weavegarden, I am an awful planner. Someone else will have to take up the reigns. I vote for you

Chickens are a (relatively) cheap form of therapy for me

I love to sit outside in the coop door and listen to them talk to each other.

I'd be down for camping if I could find someone to take care of the menagerie for me.

If I could, I would be happy to take the lead on the camping. But there are good reasons why I can't do my normal type of work these days. I can help, but the lead is not going to work for me, as much as I would really love to do it. I love this kind of thing. But just have to keep my stress level manageable.

I do have to say that the camping should be near whoever plans this. Then they have the bonus of being able to run home to care for their critters if needed during the event. I think we should look into one of the places that has housing, picnic area and tent and RV camping. Another thought is that if someone has a lot of acreage and wouldn't mind having people camp on it, we could plan to charge a little to defray the cost of porta-pottys and other needed maintenance things, like maybe a large shelter for daytime get together to handle shade or rain possibilities.

If it seems like their isn't a huge interest in this, a state park and planning to just camp and get together informally would suffice. I guess it is a matter to guage the interest first. And of course getting someone with some organizational skills to step up early on is a real need.

Just some ideas. To get the ball rolling.

As long as nobody plans to drive, I don't have any problem with a little bit of intoxication. I might even join you if the mood stikes. But we better leave the keyboards at home since all of you are confessed typoholics.

Oh, I forgot to say: I think that bringing the family on this one is a great idea too. Camping and family go together. Anybody camping near me should warn the kids not to be afraid of Grizzly Bears..... It's just me, and tents don't muffle the sounds of snoring at all!

Oh, by the way, I have a tent I would happily share with a buddy or two if there are any singles out there like me. I don't care about gender. Just happy to have a buddy to share with. I also have lots of camping gear, so let me know.

Acoustical musical instruments are encouraged and also camp songs should be written down so everybody can join in and drown out my voice. Snoring isn't the only time I sound like a Grizzly.

I really hope we get this one going. I love to camp, but can't do it alone like I could a few years ago. My family are worry warts and have given me the word that they just don't want me to do it alone any more.
