I remember that first one not that long ago. Three eggs???? layed one everyday for three days?? mine first went about every other day.

so all your work is now paying off

OK girlies..... I feel better now. Thank you. Donna I am going to copy your emoticons and keep them hiddnen. I never know where to find any of those that are extra ordinary.

Nyrial, mine are only 2 weeks ahead of yours, so get them a light. Del's has the hood and clip type for under $9 right now. But she did this in a coop with way too much ventilation that I just discovered is leaking rain in on them at night. Poor darlings. She is such a super girl.... I knew I liked her an extra lot for some reason.

My reddest girl Francie (looks like production, but McMurray doesn't sell those...) was cheering her on all three days. I just can't take a clue.

Thanks Ron.

You know it was you I most wanted to hear from..... Showing off your 8 from 8 and so on. It is really a good feeling. I haven't had my omlet yet, but I have the pan on the stove waiting. I am having a sh^^^^taki mushroom, sharp cheddar omlet with fresh tomato, cilantro and asiago cheese on top. I can't wait..... I sure wish it could be all fresh eggs, but her little pullet eggs won't even make the size of a two egg omlet, so I am supplementing with a few store bought egg whites. Moody will have to be satisfied with the store bought eggs.

edited because it thought my mushroom name was a bad word and substituted the word nonsense for it...... Weird

My oldest batch is about 19 weeks now, although both my lamps are being used for the chicks right now still, so I haven't given them light yet.

Yes???

My ducks are over 20 weeks! And not a single layer. I look expectantly every morning, but am always disappointed.

Well Donna, I want a Muscovie, but as we spoke about, it is because I want to try the meat. I am not near enough to get him, but I wish I could. I also would love to get a couple of Pekins from Metzer. I will talk to my mom and see if she would mind helping me hide them until large enough to butcher. Thanks.

I can't believe they didn't stop laying after all they went through! They must be some happy gals

I'm gonna watch some Farscape for a bit. Talk to you all later!

weavagarden; I would sure would start claiming that Pinky is a Service chicken that helps you at home. With diapers you could even take him to the grocery store.

The State law allows for this as does the American Civil Liberties Act. If there is a problem contact the ACLU and they should be willing to give you free legal advice. They would also help you fight for your rights. I don't think that it cost anything to use the ACLU.

The puppies that rainplace just posted are Live Stock Guardian Dogs. Both breeds listed in these puppies are highly protective and will think for themselves. The Komondor and Kuvauz are in the same class of dog breeds. They are all very large dogs that are a bit like couch taters, until something happens. There are more dogs that are in that class of dogs, but they are very rare breeds. Live Stock Guardian do not usually herd though. You would need a dog from the herding class to herd well, if that is what you need. You need to stay away from any kind of Retriever. Retrievers are bird dogs that usually really love chasing birds including chickens. So my advice is stay away from hunting dogs, for-your type of needs.

I am really sorry that this took me all day to post. First I was being helped with the typing. The kitten (Ellis) was trying to play with the computer. Then I got distracted by the chickens. I ended up cleaned out the coop, and then I had to go the feed store, and glean 3 large trash bags with the straw. I finally got home after dark and put two of the bags in the coop. The chickens were really upset at me for disturbing them this late at night.

I think by now they have settled down now.

I hope this helps a little bit. I haven't read all the post today, so maybe someone else has replied sooner than my all day attempt. Christina

I've got one you can have. He's about 18 months old and made me crazy all summer getting into the chicken pasture and fighting with my roos and trying to breed the hens. I'd eat him, but the only one who is intersted is my 9-year old and I'm not going to that much trouble for something he may or may not eat.
