I didn't hear about it until after the game today. I was so stunned! I feel so bad for those families!

RonB, I will have to come look at your egg on Thursday. It is probably like my Golden sexlinks. Hers are huge and slightly wrinkled, like the wrinkle marks on my face in the morning from the sheets. Hers a probably twice the size of my other two who are laying. You probably will get more that big.

Your leghorn is still a new layer right? She will probably lay some weird eggs here and there. Mine ate a couple of soft shelled or shell-less eggs in the early days. I wouldn't worry too much about it. If they start eating eggs regularly, then it's a problem. Do your girls have oyster shell grit to eat, free choice? I found that mine are eating a ton of it right now for some reason. But they do not lay soft shelled eggs.

Have a good night everyone!

I grieve for the officers wives and husband. The A hole is just a waste of humanity, and he has taken something necessary from the children of these officers.

Everyday I watch my next neighbor struggle to raise her 2 boys, without the wonderful husband and father that these boys needed, and deserved. We needed Shane Wyrsch in our lives to protect all of us, and to make the areas that are protect by the Forest Service safer.

To lose 5 officers in the line of duty in the past month or two is just overwhelming. I know that the law enforcement community will be with the families 24/7 for the next week, and they will do as good a job as they can to help these families. But the loss of a parent, and spouse will forever impact the lives of the survivors. This day I cry, and my heart continues to bleed. I hate the fact that losing officers will continue to part of the fabric of our communities. I wish we could change that.

Don't want you to think I am ignoring you. It is just that I know one is a female. The other one looks different, and one might wonder why I cannot tell what gender it is (usually I am quite good at that) but......??? I am going to take it over to Justbugged tomorrow and see if she can tell.

Christine thinks the kittens are about 9 or 10 weeks old. This one is a little fluffy, not really long haired, just a little fluffy. It is a sweet kitty. Hopefully, we will resolve the question of its gender tomorrow afternoon.

I agree. My brother-in-law is a retired police officer and as much as this impacts all of us, it is much more personal to those in law enforcement. They all know that it could easily have been them, and their families left struggling to go on without them. My feelings are strongest for the children who are left confused and wondering how this could have happened to their father.

My father died suddenly and unexpectedly when I was 11.

Hi Christina,

I was just going back through the last several pages of this thread to see what all I've missed and saw your post. Thought I'd let you know that those eggs probably will stay speckled. Just a reminder, those Welsummer chicks you got were from the last of my Non-SQ line. I had a bunch of folks want Welsummer chicks from me this year but didn't want to pay for SQ chicks so I set a couple of my hens that laid a not-so-nice egg in with my 7-Point rooster. A lot of folks like the speckled eggs but I'm trying to breed for a smooth, uniform colored egg. Hopefully that's all I'll have this year.

Unfortunately, my Welsummer cockerel that took Best Continental at the State Fair had to be put down after having a stroke. And wouldn't you know it, I didn't get a single chick out of him!

Edited to say: I just went back a couple more pages and saw the pics of your egg. That's awful light. I think she will darken up a bit after she lays some. But the eggs may stay speckeled.

God Bless,

It's OK with me to have speckled eggs. It's kinda fun to have the variety in the eggs. I love surprising the neighbors with the variety of colors that my little flock is laying right now. I also got a Marans egg today, and it's still bit lighter than I would thought should be. I real sorry that you lost your winning Roo. It hard to lose a pet that was doing a good job of making fertile eggs like he did. Christina

I think Mattel had her kidnapped by the Chinese, and Mattel is not going to to pay the ransom. Until there is a big enough protest from all of us girls that still remember poor Midge. Then Mattel will try to charge us all twice as much for us to buy a cheap knockoff from china that sort of looks like her. I think that is the best conspiracy theory I can come up with to night.

Please don't take this very seriously. I will probably regret it the morning. Sad to say I am very sober tonight. I wish I had a better excuse.
