Thank you, Ron for helping to getting this party off the ground. I agree that we need to know how much money and where we are going to meet.
How do we do this? I am not sure I want to post how much money I am willing to spend for the party here on the thread. But I do agree we need to know how much we have to work with. I think Kim has the list of people that have confirmed that they are coming to the party. I also think I remember that Kim thought that about 10.00 per person would cover the cost of the rental of somewhere to meet. This would mean that we need at least 20 to 30 people confirm that they are going, plus someone that is willing to put the deposit for the rental on their credit card. I don’t have a credit card at this time, or I would pay the deposit willingly. And then have everyone send in the money to Kim? I think we will need the money together no later than about the first of the year, or we risk not getting the date we want. All the places I have contacted have the date open as of today; this could change at any time.
The people that have confirmed will need to vote on a location soon. Any additional monies collected from those people that decide to come at the last minute, then could go to a relief fund for helping those in need, or to help rent the next location for all of us to meet again. So if anyone has ideas about how to determine how much money, where to send it, and where we are going to meet, PLEASE SPEAK-UP. It is okay that not everyone will be able to give the same amount, but we really need to have a clear idea on how much we have to spend on a location.
I am willing to meet and carpool, if that will help some members with the travel costs. This is just my thoughts on the next step in the planning, and actually getting the party to really happen.

P.S. Vote on where to meet on the " places called in Washington" thread ,and I will keep tabs on the votes and then post the numbers on the first page in the first post that has the locations listed.

The "Places We have Called" thread has been updated with votes for locations. At this time voting seems to be limited to just the North or South idea. Then we can start on the locations after that decision. We still need more sites that are more central to Seattle and Tacoma areas. Seattle seems to be able to rent rooms in public schools for meeting like ours, but I don't think that any of the rooms will have kitchen facilities.

Just to keep everyone up to date on how many have tentatively RSVP'd. I have recieved yes's and maybe's from 12 people out of 23. I have recieved money from 3. I am keeping track of who has sent money and how much if more than the min amount was sent. Just incase for some reason somone needs theirs back. So at this time I only have 7 people as a yes. That is why I am trying to get a head count, because if it is only 25 people I can still do it at my house for free. Because it seems silly to rent a hall for that few of people. Just my opinion. So, it would be helpful if those of you who haven't responded to my email could let me know if you are a yes, no, or maybe. You can PM me, and if you want to let me know how much you think you can give that would be great too.

The governmental forces called me this morning. I told him that all of my chickens have lived in the house at some point and two are in here now. I also asked if we would not have to worry about the setback if the chickens slept in the garage at night. I am pretty confident he thinks I am crazy! He is looking up some 10 year old decision about pygmy goats now to get me a definition of household pets. He is pretty sure it is limited to cats and dogs. Figures. Government lacks imagination. Well, off to measure the yard.

How much is it to go to the BBQ?
I was thinking if we all pitch in a certain amount, paying for the hall would be nothing?
Unless I missed something I heard there around 200.
That's only 10 apiece?
Mike

I agree with Kim there is no point in renting a place, if it is going to be less than about 30 of us for potluck. I would rather help out with paper plates, silverware, cups, and napkins, so that we don't need to bring our own.
So we need to vote somehow sooner rather than later. It can be as simple as I would go if it was North? or South? or anywhere else, or you would come if..... Let's keep calling places, if you know where one is.

I know that most of the core group has responded to the invitation. We need to set a cutoff date for the RSVP, so that we can be able to rent a place with the date we have in mind, or so that we can just get on with planning the menu that we are going to eat at Kim's. And then we can stop inviting everyone to join the party, here on this thread. We may also want to start a new thread so that the ones planning to come to the party can discuss the event without having to feel the need to keep inviting new ones. (This would be like me <img s)

I have done some event coordinating in the past. This may explain some of my bossiness, that plus being the oldest girl in a family of nine. Please feel free to ignore me. I will completely understand.

I also had to move the baby chickens out to the garage while I was trying to write this. DH has a bad chest cold right now, and is worrying about the dust that the chicks give off. We have been running the exhaust fan in that bathroom for at least 2 days since DH got home. DH has a really tight chest, and is probably right about the dust.

I was surprised at how sturdy the chicks are. I knew that they were eating everything insight, but I am blown away at how healthy they are compared to hatchery chicks. I will have to upload some picture of them. I am going to give the chicks some greens today.
Mike aka eagle is hatching some really healthy chicks is all I can say. Thanks again Mike for the chicks; my Uno would have so lonely if you hadn’t been hatching chicks to. The Black Copper Marans are beginning to show the copper color all ready.
