Has anyone in eastern WA ever been to the animal swap in Chewelah that is (I think) being put on be Ranch Hand Equipment? The add said it is on Sat the 27th. Are there chickens there? Also would there be any horse tack?

There is also a 4-H Chick days at the Kootenai County fair grounds, on the 27th.

Has anyone ever been to one of these?

Brennant. I need to make a date to do the chicken exchange. Roxy is getting picked on a bit by the Welsummers at her foster home. My PM area is still too full. I will get around to getting my gold feather membership in someday.

My friend has 8 hens to sell. They are 9-10 months old. I believe they are 2 EE's 2 Red/Gold Sex Links (extra large eggs) 2 Turkens and 2Barred Rocks. All Laying. She is averaging about 6 eggs a day, and they could be in better conditions. She is hoping to sell, but won't be asking going rate. Anybody want to talk about it? They are in Hoquiam Wa, but I think she might be willing to drive up to about 1 hour away.

Ron - White eggs good, brown eggs bad. LOL

Hopefully she's not really eating it, just having a taste? Or pecking at the floor beneath it for creepy crawly things? However, I use straw as bedding, not shavings, so hopefully it is just new to her and she was just checking it out. I can't imagine it would be good for her to keep on eating it!! I'd just keep an eye on her and make sure she doesn't keep at it.

I woke up this morning, the first with my very first flock, and one of the RIR hens was squawking a bit and nervously walking in and out of the coop... Then she was gone from the run... I snuck into the coop and, sure enough, she was in the nest giving me my first egg - day one, one egg! My wife reported that the others had been spending a lot of time going in and out of the coop too, so she is going to report on any further layings...

Big shocker, though... I thought that I would surely miss out on eggs until the shock of the move was gone... guess she felt comfortable enough in my nest box! Maybe I DID do something right!

She may have just been testing it, because this morning she wasn't interested in it at all... they did, however, manage to dump out the temporary feed dish and kick it all over the chicken run so they could go scratch at it... silly girls!
