My friend has 4 yorkies (we live on her property) and they all chase the chickens. 2 have even cornered my roo and almost killed him several times! I would maybe go with an American cattle dog (she also has one of these), she is a great chicken watcher and she always chases off the coyotes, and very low maintenance grooming wise. Our neighbor also has one and he is the sweetest thing in the world. He comes over at least once a day to say hi and his dad said he has never had a bath lol.
