Speaking of construction, I ordered our barn palns today !!!!! From Barnplans.com and they have to be altered a wee bit to deal with Pacific County's new hurricane 120-mile-an-hour wind blast rules, but that will be done by or around the first of next month.
Then we hunt for a good contractor to do the foundation (crawlspace or cinderblock ?) and then we build, a little at a time.
This is a 24 X 30 or more there abouts, and it will be our house !!!
No more living in this storage shed !!!
And we will be having alot of barbies with oysters too (this is the oyster capital of the world, is it not ?) especially when we get to the roof trusses.
Supposibly a couple guys can get the trusses done 1 every 15 minutes once they get the rythum going...but to do ourselves, they will probably tip right over !
But I am way excited, and here is Zgoatlady's school bus
and the duck T-Hi may want
and both together
they also have several new ones: 2 lighthouses, a table with tea party on top, and a few others.
Still have the rooster with chick and egg inside....

Does anybody have a hot tip for finding hardware cloth in the Snohomish County/N. King County area? Ideally it would be a 100-ft roll. I've tried Monroe, Bothell and Everett feed stores - nada. Home Depot and Lowe's carry 25-ft rolls, but they're pretty pricey.

This weekend we had the most exciting hatch. 5 Lavender Ameraucanas, 1 Lavender orp, 4 bbs orps (all from [email protected]). The chicks are beautiful and very very healthy and vigorous,
Also in this hatch one lovely tolbunt polish hatched from my box of scrambled eggs that the PO delivered. A second tolbunt of the two surviving eggs pipped but that one didn't make it out of the egg. Oh, and we got one chick from my test egg from my gorgeous BBS ameraucanas from my Cree hens and Pips and Peeps Roo.
The tolbunt is sooooo cute. I will post a pic tomorrow. the orps are so fat they're like fuzzy golf balls with eyes.
For all you western washingtonian hatchers: we're using a suro incubator and are getting about 20% chicks that get to full growth but never hatch. Not sure why. I'm incubating at 99.5degrees and 45 humidity until the last few days when I bump it to 60%. Does anyone have any tried and true humidity suggestions?

They had a couple of 10-ft rolls at the Everett Co-op for half the price of HD, but I need WAY more than 20 feet. We want to get the chicklets in their new home this weekend.

Brown aluminum frame, insulated glass windows from mobile home. They are 80's vintage and there are a total of 9 windows. Sizes are: 6 ea. 30" wide by 39" tall, 1ea. 13.5" wide by 27" tall bathroom window, and 2ea. garden windows 30" wide by 39" tall. All the windows are vertical sliders except for the garden windows. They're in great shape and all the glass is clear and have no cracks. These windows were custom made back when we installed them in the early 80's. Use them to replace old mobile home windows or shop, outbuilding, cabin, etc. Call 206-669-1586 for more info.

First they pip, and you can usually see the tiny beak, and after all the fluids are absorbed the chick will zip if it can.
