Chickielady,
I pm you I really do love the bus.

Im so sorry to hear about all the problems with the chicks.
Some thing we all need to think about when we bring new animals home of any kind we need to seperate them for a few reasons.
! they bring new bugs to our home ans also they are not use to our bugs so they can get sick.. Ive learned this with taking my goats place's and them getting just plan old colds..

So schools out nad its still raining whats that about..
So now the family is getting ready for my son's wedding. Went and got the guys fitted for Tux's today oh my gosh they cost a lot!! $176.00 just for one, that is crazy but hay guess you just do it a few times for the kids right..

T it is glad to have you back, and let me know if you want the school bus it was still there as of yesterday...and looks like everyone is doing OK ?
I have Ameraucana eggs to lock down in 2 days !!!
And my broody big girl (seen here in Avatar) has been setting on 13 Zgoatlady EE eggs and they are due next Sunday.
We moved all the marans into 1 run, babies and older girls.
And we put the 18 PBR pullets and the brhmas and BO's in the big run.
One's eating eggs, one's hatching eggs.
A Guinea keet flew out of the brooder box, and ran outside into the baby run and managed to find a hole just big enough and off inot the woods he ran.
Never to be seen again.
Oh well.
DH has also reported waking up last night he heard the most feroucious snarling and growling evidently more than 1 bobcat here and they were either doing the wild thing or fighting, hard to tell with cats...guess we invest in a big hav-a-heart trap.
And I have been sick from accidnently eating something that had wheat again !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hate being sick !!!!!!!!!!
Later everyone !!!
Oh yeah, anyone a contractor around here wants to bid on a 24 X 30 crawl space foundation and the barn/house build ???
Pm me if so~

Happy Fathers Day to all the guys.

Im glad to hear shes healthy and doing good.. I dont understand how people can sell anything that is sick. I for one wont let anything off my land that has a hint of being sick becasue I figure the person wont take as good care of them as I will in getting them back on track. I had one goat kid that retained his test. and I told the person that wanted him ok but he had to stay until he was up on his feet again that it would be best. They were very happy with the idea of me taking care of them, Ive also taken a sick kid back the the people had for two months to try and save him.

I spent lots on him and he was taken to the vet one last time broke my heart. My husband said no more of that, becasue it hurts to much and the whole family here gets hurt.. I think they gave him something to eat that was bad, vet had no idea.
When people buy anything from me I tell them everything I know good or bad about the animal. Im here for the animal and want the best home for them. I wont sell to some people if I feel its not a good match..As a matter of fact I have three goats one is 5 and one 2 and the other a kid that wont leave here until I get the right parents. My family is the same husband tell everyone who gets goats from me that Im going to look at there place and let them know. I dont any more LOL

I was rather foolish rushing into things like introducing strange birds without quarantine. I didn't know any better, but I got lucky. They're all healthy. Carmen and Roz, my RIR, are the bravest and most curious of the four. I let them do some supervised free ranging yesterday and the day before. Those two were the first ones out of the coop. They don't go far from me and the coop (yet). I over seeded with clover this spring, and they love it. I saw Carmen eat a tiny slug this morning. It made me very happy.

Carmen is number two in the pecking order. I think she'd prefer to be number one.

Hello everyone!

I have not been here in MONTHS and have no idea what is happening. Scrolled back a few pages but family is on me to get off of here so had to quit. Hope everyone is okay.
Had to build a new coop to get in compliance with the county. Got the okay from the county and am now all legal. My yard, however, is trashed. Went through multiple plans to get new coop done and there is evidence of that everywhere!! Chickens have been given free range of the entire backyard for the last couple of months b/c BF and I were soooo tired of chicken construction we need some time off before figuring out a run that works for us and the county. In the meantime our three roosters have been engaging in crowing contests all day to annoy the heck out of the complaining neighbors!

Fun as this has been 2 of the roos need to go. They are GREAT protection for the ladies, but they are a little too good in that they keep the kids out of the yard too.

So, if you are looking for a burly hen protector or yard protector Fluffy (large splash cochin) is your guy. Much easier and cheaper to maintain than any guard dog! He is particularily good at fighting of men and children. He and I are okay as long as I do not turn my back!

If he gets agitated I just pick him up or act like I am going to and he backs off. Fluff is very good to his girls! He notifies them if he finds food and does the egg song right along with them!! I would prefer he go to a home where he can use his intimidation and fighting skills to protect some ladies as opposed to stew pot.

Brownie is Fluffy's faithful sidekick. The two boys frequently roost together and if there is a scrape to be had Brownie is there in a second to help out. Much like a Jack Russell, Brownie thinks he is much bigger than he is in reality! His coloring is beautiful.

We are in Mill Creek/Bothell but I can help with transportation if needed. I am giving them a week to find non-food homes before I drop them off at the feed store. Please let me know if you are interested.

Summer never starts here until July. Think of it as a really long spring. Be grateful. Some places go pretty much straight from nasty cold winter to to nasty hot summer. This is good working out in the garden weather.

what handsome boys! I wish I could take Fluffy. A splash cochin would be valuable... but I have too many roos as it is. I'm thinking of downsizing the roos in my flock soon, maybe taking a couple boys to the livestock market and see if I can sell them to some chicken lovers. I'm rather regretting having bought some banty roos (banty polish) a few months back because they get picked on in the coop of older chickens and I want roos good for breeding in the other coop. That's where they are now for up until the younger ones are old enough to lay and such, though. They're happier in there. They have missing feathers on the tops of their heads from those mean bigger chickens. Poor shaggy (white-crested black frizzle) looks especially battered. He's even smaller than Scooby (white-crested brown... not sure what that coloring is called, but pretty).

but anyway, a splash cochin... you should be able to sell him pretty easily, I'd think.

Usually out here on the Kitsap Peninsula we are much warmer "closer to 75 degrees" than we are this year. I love where I live, the Olympic mountains block most of the nasty weather that rolls through the Puget Sound. But this year, we have only had maby 6 days worth of REAL sun, and most of that was over a month ago. My tomato garden is looking pathetic, and my pumkins had just started to run, and now they all almost seem to have gone dormant... I havnt noticed any new growth in the past week. Anyone with more gardening experience have any tips for me?

This is my first year growing tomatos and pumpkins. The pumpkins are for the neighborhood kids, and everything else is being grown to share between 5 families. I thought it would be nice for the kids to be able to choose their own pumpkins in the fall, as most of them have never been able to literally pick they're own pumpkin. I try to do what I can to help out my family and neighbors, we try to help everyone out around us, as much as we can.

I cant wait until the fall when everyone is laying and I can start to share eggs again!
