OMG you are so in trouble !!!
If I was going to risk the wrath of Hell (DH ticked off) I'd go for the most awesome eggs I could find (like the lemon blue cochins !!!!!

) not quail.....
I think you have hatchyosis...the dreaded disease that causes humans to go beserk trying to hatch everything they can find !
It is related to Broody-osis that hens get.
My incubator is off for 2 weeks now, but still sitting there for a lack of anywhere to put it...and STILL I have to stop and look in the windows...and STILL I want to buy eggs.
Maybe I should just get alabaster eggs and put them in there and plug in the turner and incubator....

I should of thought it out better but when Nyrial told me they pop like popcorn... I just had to try it for myself...plus it is such a short hatching process! lol

look way over on the left you will see the barn we are living in....the lean-to built down the side is also a coop...so our neighbors are chickens !

inside the big coop

I still have to gut this coop, and insulate it properly.
I have all the stuff, but it has not been the right time yet.
The hens sure get mad when I get in there to work and they come in to lay and everything is moved or different.
The really funny part is when we look out the window on the side of the barn, it looks right into the lean--to coop which has the blue marans in it.
With a roost and poop board that runs the 16 feet length, it is a big coop too, and the birds can get up on the roost and look right in at us and watch us as if we are their TV.

See what I mean ???
When we got here in September there was NOTHING here !
We have run electrical and water hoses and are in the process of digging a well while we are collecting rain water which works great but freezes in winter...there are so many things to do that it is scarey.
The worst is not having any storage AND no heat but space heater and we have very limited electrical...the new wires and conduit have not been buried or connected to the pole...we have so much to do !
So much to do it is overwhelming and I just want to go back to bed.
Sometime I will take a picture of the inside of our little barn here.
It really is cute. Cozy.
So guess I better get on with the house building and let the babies grow that I have hatched...and next spring I can think about getting more eggs...hopefully!!!

the two blue ameraucans seem to stick together. one of the splashes might be a very light blue instead of splash. He or she is not yellow like the others.

ok the bi color gods were kind to this chick. look at that tail. that is going to be cute if it stays white.

on the rooster thread. I have about a week until I decide to use them for dining...

I have left
1 BLRW with ok lacing
1 White ameraucana roo who though otherwise lovely should be a pet (due to an odd curve to his beak
2 blue marans from Cree
1 white crested black polish bantam who's developing a huge crest.

. I think I posted on here that my Landlord had a couple friends come and visit him from the Philippines. One guy is a Vet. He saw my chickens out in the yard and we started talking I told him my one Leghorn wasn't laying. He took one look at her and said she was TOO FAT, to put her on a diet. Well I have tried but she is the first one to the food when I throw it out and the last one to leave it.. I Too have cut down on the treats. The last egg she laid was back on May 18th and the one before that was May 5th. If she doesn't start laying by the end of Sept. she is GONE.........................

Hi, I'm in Athol, Idaho about half-way between Coeur d'Alene and Sandpoint. Would like to find chicken folks in my neighborhood. I have two broody bantie hens with NO rooster. I think the rooster called in the wolf that took out most of my hens last year. I have 3 yorkies, 1 cat (adopted by my mom yorkie 3 years ago). I live on 5 beautiful treed acres and just love it. Nice to meet you all.
