So I leveled out some ground under my chestnut trees yesterday, and was able to get the frame for the chicken run built and put into place. It was a bit of work to get it together by myself, but with the help from the bed of my truck to balance / prop up the legs, I was able to get the braces tacked up in place. Was able to wire in half the top with welded 2x4 heavy gage field fencing... Then I drove my truck to work, parked it for not even 10 minutes. Went to start the stupid thing, it turned over once and died! Grr! Im pretty sure that my starter is dead... I bought the truck for $3900.00 back in febuary, put new brakes all around that cost me $500.00, then another $200.00 for the heater hoses, thermostat, and for a tire to be patched...

That was just a month ago, and now I get to put more $ into the darn thing. I'm really hoping that it is the starter, and that all I will need is the standard starter with coil... "A standard Starter with coil will cost my $45.00." The tricky part for me is getting my truck off of my clients property by tomorrow night...

Ugg... When it rains it pours...

I'm contemplating putting a new starter in and just selling it...

Edited for my poor spelling.

We're going out to Monroe today but not to the Fair. A friend lives out there and is having several people over for a potluck dinner.
We're planning on stopping by the Monroe Feed Store just to check it out.
The Fair we'll go next Friday, the 3rd, to hopefully meet up with Steve Waters (Araucanas) and some of the birds he showing...

No good. Sorry. I've had my fair share of lemon cars... Money, Money, and more Money in and you're still left with an irreliable car and out the money it would've taken to get a working one! Ugh!

Yeah I'm a bit bumbed out over the entire situation. I swear my truck is just like a boat... A large whole to throw money into... There is a lot more to me being bumbed out than just my truck though... But I'm not gonna drag everyone down with my personal issues.

Hopefully my little girl will iether want her nap early, or she will want to play outside. That way I can keep working on my run for the chickens, and get my mind off of things that I can not control at the moment...

I want to go to one of the fairs! My husband doesn't want me going, he thinks I'm gonna come back with more chickens! lol Even though I've told him "more like propmised him" that I wont be bringing in anymore until "at the earliest" spring.

Hey Chickielady!? How are the sisters doing? And the rest of your flock? Has everyone gotten a clean bill of health, with no re-occurence of the cold? I sure hope so. Its so hard to have one get sick, let alone multiple flock members.

I get hay fever in late June. It's mostly grass pollen. I don't really have much of allergies this time of year. There are lots of trees so if you have a problem with tree pollen, springtime might be bad...

Its mainly ragweed. We think our 4 year old son has allergies also.

When I first moved here I was miserable. I have very bad seasonal allergies--mostly grasses & weeds...sagebrush & mustard weed are the WORST! My MIL just got allergy tested last week and she's really allergic to the Russian Olive trees, too....so they're cutting down the one in their backyard. Now she's getting customized allergy shots (a series) and it's supposed to be good for like 10 years. I did that when I was young (growing up in Portland) and until I moved to Montana and then to Okanogan--I hadn't had allergies since!

It's going to depend a bit on where you move to. Eastern Washington and Western Washington have very different climates. If you came to visit me, here on an island in the Puget Sound, you're likely to suffer from Alder allergies (as do we all, near as I can tell) and from the mold. Everything molds here. If you don't move fast enough, it will grow on you, too. Mosses are a big thing here, too. Nearly everyone I know here is on Zyrtec or similar.

oh yeah... ick! I hate ragweed... but we don't have that here in Washington

I had to deal with it in Ohio. When I went to get my allergies tested, I scored pretty high on the ragweed and the allergist asked if I moved here from somewhere else because of that. I'd assume that means it doesn't grow here or else very little. Thank God.

I get the immunotherapy shots. I love it. It takes a couple years to get through them all, but so worth it. I'm getting to the end of mine and have very light allergies in the worst allergy seasons. I'm happy.

The fair was great. We even had some sun. Anna (my 2 year old) went on her first carnival rides. Her daddy took her on them as she is just barily the 36in requirement. I saw a lot of nice looking chickens. And some Light Brahamas which is what I am getting as soon as I get a chicken coop.
