I am actually spraying them one and two at a time, I think they have burrowed under the henhouse walls and have built a nest in the ground. We have ripped the outer wall off and cannot find it, yet they continue to come out of a hole from under the wall. They are less right now so I am hoping that we have got the majority of them. I will continue to watch them. It is cold and wet outside so my little girl is now in the house where it is warm. I will let you know how she does.

All I know is that if she did get stung, like I did, it hurt like h***.

and my arm is on fire where it hit me. I feel bad for her.

I carry an epi pen cuz I am allergic to them and my doc expects an anaphylactic episode...I don't, I got stung and it hurt like on fire for a week!
Cool stuff maybe to help?
Hope you find them !
I had an old black lab you maybe remember we just put down a few months ago...she ate yellow jackets all day !
As soon as they would buzz over her food she would snap them up and swallow, she never even blinked.
My vet said she probably had such an immunity built up from eating them that they never bothered her anymore at all.
I miss Sam.
All seems to be going well here, no new cases, current ill birds were plunger fed gruel of mashed fruits, sugar, lay mash, soy milk and mixed up with Duramycin and force fed.
So far so good.

The antibiotics recommended for IB, Coryza and the like, I have had the birds on, first Duramycin for a week, then Sulfamet for a week, now back on Duramycin which they seem to do better on yet never all the way...and I ordered the Tylosin.
Those birds that have this "cold" have dark green poop in a watery water...although I have been giving them lots of lettuce, fruits and vegies trying to get food into them so that could be the culprit.
Hopefully they will be OK.

Try a trap ?
My DH built a trap with tuna fish in it and they went nuts to get in and get it...we have also used a store bought trap and used hamburger or tuna as bait, the store bought bait never seemed to work as well as the meat.

Thank you I will try the trap tomorrow. The spot on my arm still smarts, it is swollen, red, sore, and itches. It is making me very irritable, so if she got stung, especially in the mouth or by the mouth, I can understand why she is not feeling well. But she has hardly drank or ate for 2 days, so she is in the house where it is warm and we are giving her electrolytes and then using the syringe and squishing the scrambled eggs into her too. Once it is in the back of her mouth she is swallowing it. She at some out of my hand too. This way we can feed her every hour until we go to bed and tomorrow too. I think she will be okay. But my arm hurts.

I remember you talking about your dog. I am sorry. I have been there x3 over the past 9 years. they have all been hard, but I think the hardest was Bea, my tiny pomeranian. She was so funny. I lost her about 4 years ago. For the longest time I would swear I wouild hear her barking or making her noises that she used to make. I would see her out of the corner of my eye. When she was sick, she slept by my pillow, that way I could reach up and touch her in the night to see if she needed anything, she was sick for approximately 4 or 5 months. For nights, after she was gone, I would reach up to feel for her in the middle of the night. I really miss all 3 (Spuds, Bea, and Tonka). So my heart breaks for you.

I am glad that your chickens are feeling better and I am sorry for those you lost.

Awwwwwwwww! That is still what I go through ! I still hear her, and sometimes I swear I hear her collar tags clinking just so...Sam knew when we were sick, and would lir her head next to ours...a big dog and not allowed to be in the bed, but she would lie next to us on the floor or the couch.
I usually hit the couch when I was sick.
She would be there between me and the coffee table...
My Cuckooroo is sick now...and he has been eating way more than everyone else, spotted yesterday head full into the feed bucket for several minutes at a time.
He has also had antibiotics and I gave him some mash...but him sick just kills me...he is my favorite little guy, the whole place is so eerie quiet with him ill.
He never shut up before, always talking and yelling.

Thought I'd share a few thoughts here. When someone posts SEVERAL detailed posts about the ill health of their chickens it is assumed that person might be a little anxious or over reacting or even freaking out. Therefore, being helpful folks on BYC others are naturally going to try to be helpful. I personally view excessive posts regarding the same issue over and over, pretty close to freaking out but thats just me. People can post all they want if it helps them feel better but be prepared for others to want to help. If people don't want LOTS of help and suggestions, wanted or unwanted, don't post. I don't think mentioning the authorities possibly confiscating the entire flock was suggesting to "hide the disease from the authorities". It was merely a warning of what might happen to prepare for the worst. Thats good advice. This is not intended to offend anyone. Just a thought.

Have to say this thread is awesome. Lots of wonderful people in our beautiful state of Washington.
