Sometimes I really don't like people...

Last night around 9:45PM my brothers girlfriend witnessed someone dumping an old dog. She was unable to get a license plate number, but did get the make of car. She picked up this good old boy and brought him to my house. They checked his collar, called the number "no answer," So they drove him into town to the address on his tag. Dog was overly happy when taken there, but the lady at the door said that they don't own a dog... Even though there is a set of dog bowls on the porch, leash bed, ect... Grrr!!!

This dog is SO very sweet! Old chocolate lab, he has got to be in his mid to late teens, is covered in lumps, "not sure what they are called." Was super thirsty and hungry, very arthritic, and stiff. So when the people at the address listed on his collar denied him being theres, my brother and his GF brought him home to me. So for now he is set up out in my garage with a nice warm dry bed, food and water. The Kitsap Humane Society should be here at some point today to pick him up.

If I didn't already have three dogs, I would let him end his days here with me, happy and comfortable, but I just can't do that. I know that we have done the best that we can for him, and we will keep doing so as long as he is here.

I just don't understand how someone can dump an obviously once dearly loved family member. I don't think I will ever understand what goes through peoples minds. If you can't afford the care and maintenance of a geriatric dog with health issues, don't just DUMP him!!! How cruel! Attemp to find him a home, and if you are unable to, do the RIGHT thing and put the poor thing down... Don't just dump him to fend for himself!

Poor old dog.

I really don't think this dog would have lasted very long out on his own in my area... At least WE know he will be safe from now on, even if his owners are not held acountable for dumping him.

You are wonderful to take him in...and did GF ever see that vechicle at that address ?
Too bad that the humane society will probably have to put him down as not too many people want the issues associated with the geriatric animal of any kind.
Usually those lumps found mostly on chocolate labs, not on yellow or black labs for some reason are fibroid tumors and not cancerous, although sometimes they can turn cancerous but I understood that was rare...we had 3 yellows, 3 blacks (the last was my Samantha) and 2 chocolates, and the chocos get those lumps.
Poor old guy !

I know its been a while.. been so darn busy marketing my company and going to training that I have gotten so side tracked!

I had some wonderful new to share! Well I had two Wyondottes that decided to go broody on me, had at least a total of 30-40 between the 2, well, they started hatching today!!! I have at least 20 baby chicks chirping like crazy!

So here is the question: Do I take the babies out or leave them in? there are more hens in the pen but two of the lil guys were already following a different hen arond and going under her and she didn't seem to min.

(The rooster however is dinner tonight as he just attacked me AGAIN! 5th time the bugger has done it and my daughter has a scar on her leg from the old coot!)

Well, I do miss you all, I am going to do some catch up reading today on here

There was no car in the garage or driveway at his address... The humane society was just here. He does not have a chip, but is licensed, so They will hold him for 30 days I believe, before they will put him down. I took photos, and all his information down, and will post locally that he was found and is now at the shelter. Honestly, I would rather him go to the humane society, and be put down by them, than to iether get torn up by local wildlife "We have alot of large predators in my area." or get hit by a car.

HA! Speaking of excitement! As the humane society was pulling out of my driveway, we heard a HUGE crash up the road... My brother "volunteer firefighter" hopped in his car to check it out. Turns out the crash we heard was a dump truck loosing its breaks coming down the big hill. He turned sharp to miss the house and the truck landed on the pasengers side... Both pasenger and driver are ok and got out under their own power... I'm sure they will be hurting, and the driver looked to be in shock. I will post pictures soon...

Wow What an exciting morning!

Cheryl.

My Wife is a CNA. I've met almost all of her clients.
From what I've seen and what my Wife tells me your statement above can be about a lot of seniors these days.
Due to privacy concerns can't say much more but I can tell you there are good kids and lot of others that only come around enough to keep their names in the will.
Fortunately right now my Wife is caring for one whose family is there for him. Great loving family.

It's hard enough for her because she gets so attached to the ones she cares for then to have vultures involved.

Just out of the picture to the right of the truck, is the house that was missed... The driver said that the light at the bottom of the hill turned red, he stepped on the breaks, and nothing... So instead of plowing right into the house, he cranked his wheel, and flipped the truck.

Oh I completely know what you are talking about. Ive spent alot of time with elderly neighbors, who's adult kids want NOTHING to do with them... My mother and I took care of one neighbor, and her kids didn't come around until her health failed, and they wanted to fight over her belongings. Its sad, but some people are just like that. But someone had to help the women, so we took care of her, her property, the rat infestation that she had, carted her to and from Dr.s and stores... We spent alot of time with her, and I wouldnt change anything about what we did for her. She has sence passed, she lived long enough to hold the closest thing to a grandaughter that she had. She got to meet and hold my daughter, and the next day she passed... We were all sad, but we did what we could for her on a dialy basis, even if it was just checking on her and bringing her her mail... She was a wonderfull lady.
