What a cute ol' boy!
I hate the fact that some people think they can do things like this and they get away with it!

My neighbor takes in old dogs. 1 and a time and she gets help/funding from some senior animal rescue for the medical conditions/bills. Maybe there is a senior dog rescue near you? they would find him a home as most senior rescues have a list of people who take them.

Myself I go to kill shelters and rescue the dog that no one wants because they are either to aggressive or hyper. My last rescue is now almost 11 years old and she is a great dog. But when she was young she was a lot of training and work! Hyper smart herding dogs can be a handful!

Oh my! He's such a sweetie! Looks like a big brown teddy bear!!!!

Please give him lots of hugs from the boardies here!

Our lab is 11 now, and every winter her arthritis gets worse. She's already moving slower than she was this summer. It makes me sad, but at the same time we know it is our job to make her as comfortable as possible. And give her lots of love while she's still here with us. Ok...I'm getting sad now.

Don't be sad! That wasn't my intention to make anyone sad... I have adds up on my local facebook news page, and one in the lost and found section of my local craigslist. I have also posted found signs stating that he is at the shelter. I wish I could have kept him here, and tried to find his owners. But I have three dogs already, one of whom is not so nice with new dogs... I just couldn't risk that. However, I will look into whether or not there are any elder dog rescues... Hopefully I can get him some help. He definately deserves better than what he got last night. He is such a good boy. Was great when my roo walked up to him, didnt bat an eye at the horses, loved all the attention he got here. I was sad to load him in the van, but I just couldn't keep another dog. Maby if my situation was better, but right now as is things are tight.

Ive had a very busy day, and I still have to go back to work...

Pancreatic attack!
Man I just spent the last week recovering from this. I thought I would die from pain

Spent last weekend in hospital on heavy pain meds and IV fluids. Better now finally. Turns out it was a virus that attacked my pancreas! The things we get as we get older continue to amaze me....

I have a German Shepard Chow mix who is 11 now. And you can definately see the season change in her. But I think my Dusty is a bit backwards from most geriatric dogs... The colder it gets the better she moves. Well that is once she gets to moving... Those first few steps are pretty darn stiff. I know that she will not be with me forever, I knew that when I brought her home at 6 weeks of age. But I love her, she has made my life hell and a joy at the same time. She is my first child, and she will be with me until the day she passes. And boy do I ever dread that day. I will be a complete mess, and I know it.

But, this is something that most people realise and except, in order to keep and love our pets. We have them, cherish every moment, and then when they go, we grieve, and then cherish them even more.

Just take comfort, "like I do" in the fact that you have given the best possible life that you could.

I have a 13 year old basset that is really my son's. Yes, he's expensive these days, and my husband talks about getting rid of him (not dumping him), but I won't let him. It's not like he's going to be around that much longer.
