I don't post to often,

Just don't have a whole lot to add to the mix I guess, but, the one thing I am noticing is the gap in western versus eastern side...

I relize its the "wet"that is the issue for alot of people...lol:fl We are here as this is where the mil chose to send us.

Sure its grey, wet etc... One thing 17 + years of moving just about every 3 years has taught me.. is to make the most of it! And, honestly, this place has alot to love. I love that in a couple hrs, I can be in Seattle, or I can be on Ocean Shores doing this..

This is our first assignment where we have lived where we can have our horses at "home", can own chickens and goats...

I love that in hauling a horse trailer, when I signal my need to move lanes, someone always slows and flashes headlights letting me know to come on over, or when there are two lanes merging down to one, a person will move over and block traffic allowing me to merge... There are rude drivers, no doubt, have seen to many lane weavers going into Seattle..

But, in general, this is a nice place.

OK OK OK sorry that wasn't nice but really should be anytime. Waitin fer new chickens to lay is like waiting for water to boil. It won't happen until you look away.

Well it is game on. Today I was unloading some wood and stirred up a nest of yellow jackets. They got me on the back of the neck, shoulders and my fat side. So I got the BAD BEE spray, sprayed em about 3 hours ago. I just went out to check and was able to see better where they were in the ground so sprayed again and while standing there watching the foam do no good got poped again in the back of the neck. As soon as I get the wood splitter moved there is gonna be a grass fire. Must have been caused by somebody in a passing car tossing a cig.

We had one up in the side of the wall of the hen house. We finally had to dig below the wall, dig a big hole, then DH smacked the wall so that the nest finally fell out. It was huge. I only got stung once....hubby not at all. We used 5 or 6 different sprays trying to get at them, drilled a hole in the wall, everything. Once the nest fell out, sprayed the H*** out of it and ran like H***. Finally gone. Nasty bugs.

I will have to upload a picture of my black Australorp Roo. He is very "watchful" as well and hasn't charged at anyone bt me really and I was chasing one of "his" hends to check her for mites when he did it. Well the reason I am posting this is that he is also very obviously male just like your roo here and my three year old named him....STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE.

Go figure too because the name has stuck.

We always run, then sneek back at night when the applesauces are all in their tidy hole asleep...then DH dumps kerosene down the hole for about 15 mintes and then lights it off.
It can burn for a long time and the fuel soaks way in to smother them, as it is oily, and if they try to escape, they ignite.
I love your 'bear like' approach to the bugs, most people run away...you get right in there and fight, huh ?
Bet your snarled and growled the whole time just like a bear too !!!
Man, they sting for weeks sometimes !
