My older son has life threatening allergies as well as really sensitive skin. I never let him wear anything that hadn't been washed first. Heck, I don't wear anything unless it's been washed first.

The only thing new that she ate was walmarts off brand cheese puffs that my step dad bought her... She ate 4 or 5 puffs, then about an hour later is when she got the hives... Needless to say, the cheese puffs are no longer hers. I washed ALL of her new clothing, everything all the way down to her socks. I'm tempted to take the cover and pads off her new carseat to wash them as well.

I'm leaning more torward the puffs, but I am still not sure as she still has some hives. But then again, I have no idea how long they will take to clear up.

Its been a stressfull 24 hours, and now we are just trying to keep her comfortable.

Wow I didn't know that was even possible. I can remember a visit to Harrison hospital years ago with my DS, and I know that we were there for at least a couple of hours in the middle of the night. We were camping out on the Kitsap peninsula, and it turns out he had whooping cough. Apparently it is good to expose the kid to the night air, we had that covered that night. I am still not sure how he would have come down with whooping cough given the fact that he had been vaccinated against it.

Chloe's hives sound rather scary. You were right in taking her in and having it checked out. I really hope you can figure out what is causing them, and that Chloe has a speedy recovery. My DS had what looked like bug bites on his arm when he was about twelve, that swelled up into massive lumps on his arm. The doctor that I took him to twice never did come up with what was wrong with DS. I learned much later that it was most likely to have been a MRSA infection. But every since anytime he get a mosquito bite he will still get massive lumps for awhile.

I'm guessing that you went to the Bremerton Campus... I will NOT use that hospital unless it is heart or head trauma... Horible experiences there is all I am going to say. BUT the Silverdale Harrison memorial campus is a wonderfull facility.

You are right that we had visited the Bremerton campus. Of course when we were there, there was no Silverdale campus. As far as I can remember the hospital in Bremerton was the only option that we had. I am very happy that Chloe is better today. Of course as conveinient as Benadryal can be, lol I hope that you never have to use it again for this reason.

DH and I worked a good part of the day creating a cover for the chickens run. I was doing okay until I managed to run my head into a 2x6. I have a sweet little lump on my forehead now. I will be okay. We are adding a higher and larger cover to the run so that wouldn't crack my head. At least when I walk into the run I do not have to duck my head at all. We had the run covered with bird netting over the run. The run sits between two willow trees, and as all the stuff falls out of the trees it was of course starting to build up some weight and make the netting sag. When I would walk into the run, I finally realized that I couldn't walk upright anymore without my head rubbing against the netting a stuff. While I may like spiders and other bugs, I really am rather uncomfortable with bugs and spiders my hair. So DH and I decided that it was time to replace the netting with and larger roof. I am hoping that it will keep the run and girls a lot dryer. I might finally post picture of my coop. As far as I can tell it is rather unique, DH was sure that it would work with pull out nesting boxes. I will say at this point it does work, but still leaves room for improvement.

Since I was curious, here's the ingredient list for walmart brand cheese puffs:

Enriched Cornmeal (Folic Acid, Thiamin, Riboflavin, Niacin, Iron), Vegetable Oil (Contains One Or More Of The Following: Corn And/Or Soybean Oil), Whey (Milk), Coconut Oil, Maltodextrin, Salt, Cheddar Cheese* (Pasteurized Milk, Cheese Cultures, Salt, Enzymes), Natural And Artificial Flavors (Contains Milk), Disodium Phosphate, Sodium Caseinate (Milk), Monosodium Glutamate, Artificial Color (Including Yellow 6, Yellow 5), Citric Acid. *Adds A Dieterily Insignificant Amount Of Cholesterol. Allergy Warning: Contains Milk. May Contain Traces Of Wheat And Soy.

I've had to be very careful lately of ingredients since I work with someone who has an allergic reaction when someone eats anything containing trace amounts of peanuts around him.

well drilling and playing in the mud
50801_welldigging_007.jpg

the monster noisy compressor
50801_welldigging_024.jpg

water and sand, etc shoots in the barrel..

then pours out into the swimming pool...

then the water is recycled back to the well hole
50801_welldigging_005.jpg

looking down the hole, you can see the return water line

and 1 brave hen who was not afraid of the compressor noise, all the rest of the blues were hiding.
I love this hen, and her black splashes on blue.
Well, well well, we have hit water, I guess at 17 feet, and it is sand now, which likes to cave in on the drill head...and it is extremely hard to continue down when you hit sand.
We are drilling again today...I expect the driveway to cave in like a sinkhole...and I am 2" shorter than the day before from carrying 5 gallon buckets of water....more pictures later kids !!
No wheat eating here...

Monosodium GLUTemate is made from wheat, I have to really watch out for that...and cheese cultures are quite often done on breads (as blue cheese and swiss) and then injected into the cheese rounds where they age, make blue mold or big gassey holes or otherwise do what cheese cultures do.and MSG is a BIG no no !!!
I also have to sateer clear from Casienates (This is the protein in milk)
Alot of people are sensitive or allergic to casienates and THINK they are lactose intolerant, 2 different substances here.
For example, lactose free milk still makes my guts upset, makes me ill...my immunal system attacks the digestive tract trying to 'kill' the casien, it is not lactose that bothers me.
And eating alot of yogurt will NOT necessarily make you feel better, nor can the beneficial bacteria in yogurt help you as your stomach juices KILL all living bacteria you eat from Yogurt.
I hate the way advertising misleads people....gotta go drill some more, later kids!!
***Some offending foods and substances can cause anaphylactic shock in mere seconds, carry and epi-pen...and some take 2 -3 days before you start hurting, like in Graves Disease or Celiac Disease.

Water blisters are a big sign of immunal system involvement.

Well we go in to Chloe's Dr. at 2:15 this afternoon. I will be taking in the list of everything she has eaten or been in contact with... I'm hoping that a 12-24 hour record will be enough,. as I do not think I will be able to remember everything she had eaten for a few days prior to the onset of the hives...

On another subject... My Polish roo disapeared... Then this morning when I left for work, I saw 5 racoons on the road side of my property. My neighbor feeds them, and will be very upset if she finds out that I discourage them in every way possible. She will be even more upset when they just slowly disapear one at a time. My belief is... The only good coon is a dead coon... My remaining 4 girls are staying locked up in their coop/run, even though they are all very upset with me.

I also recommend noting if she had an illness in the last 3 weeks and anything she has taken orally -> medication, vitamins, supplements.
Take a look at aad.org or other sites for:
1. Urticaria (hives)
2. Allergic Contact Dermatitis
3. Viral Exanthem
4. Drug or Food related Dermatitis Reactions

Those would be my thoughts...
Also, depending on what the 'rash' actually looks like, my guess is that they will provide her with a low potency corticosteriod to resolve this 'flare'.

This photo was taken within 5 minutes of me noticing the hives... This "one" spot grew to cover her entire arm. She had a 6" circle around her belly button, both of her thighs were completely covered. Within 2 hours of onset of hives, it had reached her cheeks.
