There's breeds with dun coloring. (looks like chocolate, called chocolate, but is genetically entirely different and infact works like BBS)

Those include Polish, Seramas, and a few others I can't currently think of.

well, that's no fun

Too bad we can't get hatching eggs from England!!

But you can from other places....
smile.png
Or even adults....through Australia or another country....but just be prepared to spend $2,000 + on it.

If you wait probably three years, after Paul imports those chocolate orpingtons (I'm sure they'll be $800 a pair at first) but then the market will soon be saturated, crash and then just like the coronation sussex--within a few years, you'll be able to buy them dirt cheap.

yes, but I still thought it would cool to have some of us bird people start raising them and releasing or selling them back to the DFG for them to release, be some income..but the ecologists and ornathologists on the program wrote me to say that these species do not bear confinement well (and like pheasants and partridge do ?) and they often fail to mate at all, being sensitive to human disturbance.
My Father in law goes in his huge pheasant pens everyday, sometimes 5 or 6 times to collect eggs, the hens just lay them and walk away, they are too nervous to brood or set at all.
The rooster mate, the hens drop the egg and run.
So you have to go in there and that disturbs the sage and sharp tailed grouse.
But what a neat thing it would be to help the restoration of these two beautiful species !

OK, I have aquired Clarence, Mildred and Abigail.

I absolutely love these birds and wanted to avoid the feathered feet in this mud I have here but I could stand it no more !

And apparently it was meant to be !

In the future, I want to carry on Heather's breeding program with them, so I will have to bump some other programs I have here, cull, sell, you know the routine.
Since there is little need for OE roos, I will be offing 4 of those...and a few others.
In the meantime, I will have a whole brooder full of Black Javas, and BBS Maran, and Silver Cuckoo Marans chicks.
So, Justbugged may have to make my funeral floral display in the fall with no nasties to make it with

So perphaps she will have to freeze my body and bury my crazy butt in the spring so I can have my beloved nasty-sturtiums on my casket

Remember...DH is in NorCal and has no idea about the Lemon Blues
ep.gif

Oh boy am I in trouble !!!
lau.gif

If not for the fact that he will be here when we go pick them up...he probably would never know they were here
lau.gif

See what happens ?
You add on, get more, add on, get more...on and on and on...

Did you ever get your buckeyes ?
The wyandottes come in the most awesome colorations...and it seems the orpingtons are following suit.
I am waiting for Turquoise or maybe Pheasant like coloration bred into one of the two.
lau.gif

I expected to see alot of those $800 a dozen silver laced Brahmas that we all drooled over last spring, and have not seen a one, has anyone ?
Seriously...I expected that guy to be selling eggs like hotcakes all summer...has anyone seen any of them ?

I picked up one partial pannel of this stuff from the rescue I was helping out. Was planning on using it on the coop, but not on the roofline. How did you seel it off, to keep moisture out? I dont think I have enough to cover the entire roof, so was thinking of turning it into windows with ventilation along the top... Think this would work?
