I like the table idea a lot. Buttons or something would work, too, but the table sounds like more fun. Thanks for offering.

I didn't go but I have an idea... How about all us BYCers wear a silly beanie with a bobble headed chicken on top. or T shirt? I'm sure y'all have already figured out something. I hope to go to the Monroe affair. I need to get me some fancy birds. I better get busy building my new coops and yards. I talked to a goat rental lady who will bring her herd and clear about 1/4 acre for me. I would like to have my own goats again and do that myself but I don't have $$ or fencing or shelter yet for some nice milking goats. Soon though I hope. Most of my land is wooded or in a 2 acre beaver pond which i like just fine. I love most of the wildlife that comes here. Not necessarily the variety that finds chicken to be a delicacy. I have a nice area I want to open up for chickens and more garden space. It's the sunniest part of my property. My neighbors cleared about 10 large evergreens and that opened up a gap that now my poor trees are subject to toppling over. Lost two this year and I expect more will fall without the support of the neighbors' trees. I mention this because when the lovely firs finish coming down I will have a lot of room for chickens and goats. Nature hates a vacuum so I will fill the area with all manner of birds, I'm sure. Health permitting.
I hope to see and meet more chicken friends. And acquire a passel of pretty feathered friends this spring.
Love reading about the shows.. And all your birds

Next time we have agreed to have a table, and banner so we can all come and sit and visit and coffee or ??
I have alot of what is necessary as I have spent alot of time doing art shows...

I would suggest against one of the cheap paint ball guns. They tend to have more problems and don't hit very hard. With a furry dog you want it to hit hard as the fur will absorb a lot. BTW the paint is latex based and will wash out with soap and water.

We live up against the Cedar River (Seattle) Watershed. 90,000 + acres, no hunting, you can't even hike there. When we bought the property I heard that the wildlife that comes out of there is huge - I had no idea how much of it there would be! Since they have never been hunted, they don't have much fear of people. I didn't even use a zoom for most of those photos! It's a little nerve wracking to be standing at the bus stop with the kids and have a big heard of elk come out of the woods across the street! I think that is why most of our neighbors let their dogs run free; they think it will keep the wildlife away. The bears usually run off when they see people. The elk aren't scared of anything. The males can be really intimidating, They stare you down and paw the ground! When they do that I crouch low to the ground and creep away. If I just turn and run, they follow! My dog slinks away too because she got kicked in the head once. Vet said she was lucky to be alive. (I keep my dogs in my fenced yard but the fence is nothing to an elk if apples are ripe). A family with a bunch of kids down the hill from me moved because a cougar would sun himself on their driveway nearly every time the sun was out! They called the Wildlife department and were told it was a young male (they are the most dangerous). They have several satelite tagged out here. They won't trap them and relocate them here.

I would use the paint gun on the cougar.

The cougar does not eat my apples, plums, berries, and so far not my chickens either. Thd dog, the elk and the bears are all valid targets for the paintgun.
