[Chicken Rustler]

These are fixed windows. That side of the coop is just tin wiff no ins. I figure the tint will keep hot sun out but still let light in. I am currently parting out an RV and will have these windows. I also plan to use the insulation in the coop. It is foam covered with paneling. I think it would help stay cooler in summer and warmer in winter and IT IS FREE !!!!!

ETA My coop already has plenty of vent in the summer along with fans.

Good Morning to all the Chicken People.

I think I am ready to go to sleep now. I must have been a vampire in a previous life. I am still grossed out at the sight of blood, and I can't even consider the thought of eating it. I think it is more about waking up late at night.

Are you saying that Washington does not get a lot of lightning.

Just depends on which side of the Mtns you are on. We have some really hellacious storms on this side (Omak, Tonasket, Oroville). I love to sit in the back yard and watch them roll in. They are absolutely gorgeous. Unfortunately, they are extremely dangerous (as RAre Feather Farm can attest to) and we have many forest fires. We actually were watching a storm (many years ago) out my back window and watched it hit a garage just across the valley from where we llive....I mean maybe 1 mile away max. We called it into 911, but by the time they got there it was fully ingulffed.

We are still waiting to pain but its a spring project now. We also just put a vent up top in on the window end and its 4x2 and not pictured. I put 2 big 5x4 windows in the north side of our coop. It gets late day sun but it gives light all day. When it snowed it left the windows clear of snow. I have screens too so good venting. I am going to put wire over the windows this spring and pull the screens though. The north side or end has a roll up door so I can open both ends for good venting. I love the windows and so do my birds. they are off the floor 3 or 4 feet. I do have a big coop though. Like 20x40.

My little girl "DD" passed out with her head on my lap, and I just noticed. She has had a LONG morning, she has never heard thunder before. Poor little dear was afraid, and wound up in my bed at 6:45. Oh hay lightbulb just came on! It was more than likely Chloe that woke me up this AM. lol

Wait, I thought you just got rid of a couple horses because you didn't have the money to feed them? Not judging,.. must have the wrong person.

I think she was saying she couldn't afford the meds and supplements she had to give the aging horses to keep them alive.

Usually not here on the coast..not in Oregon or California either.
Usually it is over land where I have experienced the most lightening...Newport/Cusick WA-Old Town ID area seemed to have alot...a guy out there told me his theory that alot of it was due to how much conductive minerals are in the ground, like copper and gold.
I do not know if that is true...during the dust bowl the electricity charged by dust storms would discharge on wire fencing...so maybe his theory of the lightening discharging on conductive mineral deposits was true ?

It is also true that most electrical storms come from warmer storms...usually late summmer early fall or spring...but we have La Nina this year so who knows ???

Oh, Heaven's sake....you did not offend me. I was laughing so hard I almost fell off my chair. Good thing the lap kitty was here to balance me. Just so funny.
