What about hail, do you all get large hail stones?

Probably not hail like you get....but coming home from a swim meet this last summer a horrendous storm broke out. And lots of hail. At one point I had to pull over as I could hardly see the hiway. I had my dd lie down in the back seat because the hail was hitting us so hard I was afraid it was going to break the window (probably a little over reacting)...but it did leave ping marks all over my subaru and it separated the paint and the clear coat. Poor "Rubaru". That is one of the scariest I have ever been in.

The Oden Road fire moved VERY quickly.

MILES in a matter of just a few minutes--we barely got out with the horses & dogs.

In fact, I had to leave my chickens at first and was able to go back after the initial fire storm and got them at 2am that night (Friday).

Here is the beginning--helicopters over my coop carrying water from Leader Lake:

Grabbing my favorite chickens and getting them loaded into the truck, got the cats & dogs out of the house and DH is catching the horses. You can barely see a helicopter on the right hand of the screen:

About 3 minutes later--the top of our driveway!

Luckily, the wind was blowing AWAY from our house!

This was about 4pm--the skies were just BLACK!

Oh yes....here is what lightning on this side of the mountains in August, with high winds (60mph) and 90+ degree heat does...the fire chief called the area behind our house a "horizontal vortex." The fire was sucking the wind into itself and creating the most horribly scary noise I've ever heard...

The next day is when the fire erupted and we almost lost our house. We did lose all of the mature trees behind it, our dog kennel & dog house, a cedar fence, our wedding arch and some other things...

This is the next day, they started helicopter drops, the last photo ever taken of the old school house in our backyard before it burned:

The view from the highway...

Yes, this is our house!

Everything burnt around the back of the house:

Everything shoved in the horse trailer! LOL

honestly the best ham is Smithfield ham from Smithfield Virigina.
Its really good on Toll House White Rolls. The pigs are fed salty virigina peanuts, then they are cured in a salt rub.
when baking, it has to be soaked in water otherwise it is too salty.
Best hame ever. This is different from the commercial company smithfield. this ham only come from that regional area.
Its expensive, but so good.

Wow Rare Feathers, that's one quick moving fire! Luckily you watered the lawn around your house, you barely escaped! I like all the pets in the cages and the trailer. Thankfully you had space for everyone.

scary scary scary.... so close!! So good you had somewhere to put everyone to get them to safety!
my parents have been incredibly lucky.. have only had to pack once to evacuate since living in the Valley.. Been some close calls. That's how I always think of E. Wa in Aug.. smokey skies.

Heather, was that the fire last summer? I remember that. I saw the interview of you on the news that you had posted. Those fires over there every year would scare me to death!!!!

So sorry about your doggie.

curiosity cats.

They actually do NOT bother the chickens at all. They mostly want her food and one of my cats wants her water most of all.

Thats whatthe lady I got the filly from told me this morning. The station was hit by lightening, and caught fire. I guess it took a couple hours to put it out...

Then it is not the same fire I know of. .

The fire that happened nearby us, I found out today, was someone's house. When the power went out, their fan to circulate their woodstove's smoke and heat cut out, and apparently their chimney went up in flames, then burnt down the whole house.
