Coffee is on! I just came in from cleaning water containers and breaking ice. Grrrr.... I hate ice! I have 15 plus pens that I have to break ice on water all the time. I guess I glad im here in Wa. It isnt like other areas and Im glad but its sure a pain in the but to do when you are trying to get ready for work and kids out the door. You freeze ur hands and butt off.... I need heated waterers but the power to 15 plus pens would overload my breaker.
Buy a Snuggle Safe (about $25), stick it in your microwave for a few minutes then put your water on top of it. It is supposed to stay warm for 10 to 12 hours, most of that at 120 degrees.
I don't do that, but I heard from others that it works. I use large bottles that are for rabbits and such and just switch them out a lot. I also have the nipple waterers, but the chickens prefer the pet bottle. They are easy to switch out, and the water stays clean.
