Congratulations Heather! What a wonderful blessing and good news to get this time of year!

I'm sorely tempted to take those Crevecours off your hands but I don't dare do it. As it is now, I'm trying to decide what I don't want to work on this year.

Congratulations again! Here's wishing you and all yours (including that new Lil' One" a very Merry Christmas!

God Bless,

Yes we have Tansy on this side of the state.

Well as for my new RIR banty egg.

So now we are back to waiting for the RIR's girlz !!!!

Yes, we have the bad Tansy here too. I often see it by the road sides here in the valley. I imagine the seeds are moved around by the vehicles.

DH brought Kelby home instead of the 24 hr vet. Not too happy about that. He has all the info needed if we need to make a run to the 24 hr vet tonight. He was peppy when he got home, but he's been sleeping since. We are keeping a close eye on him but I fear it will be a long night!!! Thanks for all the well wishes.

didn't say her goat did ... just know that accidental ingestion of toxic plants is ONE of the most common things to happen to livestock....
Tansy grows SUPER well on this side of the mountains.. It is one of the most commonly ingested toxic plants by livestock in western washington.

Please please read the link I posted.. its right from the WSU.edu website. I have it around me, I pull it whenever I see it. Symptoms of tansy toxicity are liver related as it causes cumulative irreversible liver damage. Tansy Ragwort is NOT a pretty plant.. it is an illegal noxious toxic weed. Common Tansy is a different plant and had many medicinal/culinary purposes.

Here is another article from Island County... http://www.islandcounty.net/weedcontrol/weedweb/wdtext/tansy.htm It mentions symptoms of Tansy poisoning.

This is straight from the WSU website:
****The greatest infestations of tansy ragwort occur west of the Cascades. In some areas, it is at or near the crest of the Cascades, and it is invading areas east of the Cascades. Contaminated straw and hay brought by hunters from infested sites west of the Cascades were major carriers of tansy ragwort seed.***

So we do have Tansy on the west side and its not good for goats, and foxglove is a big no no. I use to work with WSU in King county and pois. plants for goats was my thing. I put on a few class's for people about it and even 4-H. Lots of plants dont show their true color at the start but once they do its too late.
I will try and find some of my info, I have a new comp so not sure what I have on this one.

Chickielady,
I havent forgotten your soap I been really sick. Think I got it from one of the many times to ER with my son or maybe one of the kids on my bus.

Congratulations, Heather, how exciting. Is this your first?

What birds are you down sizing? Being that you are close, it makes it easier for me to say I want a bird or two (or 3 or 4). PM me if you would rather.

Again, congratulations. Make sure to keep us updated.
