well, not the correct quote but wanted to ask you about the Yasha ordeal:
Do not animals of the camel family have the ability to stick their stomachs out ?
I saw a TV show where male camels do it to attract females, is it harmless, and gross (to us) but a sexual attractant to the female of the species.
Do Llamas do that as well ?
Just wondering.
I have also read where a goat (or Llama) can eat weird stuff (or dog!!!) like a sprinkler, or an entire string of Christmas lights...or someother bizarre item that is neither food nor will it break down organically but instead PLUGS the intestine and the animal dies.
I say this because it sounds as if Illia's goat was starving even though he had food all around him.
The reason why this is on my mind is because my pup dog Jack is still eating rocks, and we hve had a very long talk with the vet about rock eaters.
It is hard to break them of it.
And when I catch him chewing on a rock he freaks and swallows it.
Now most of the rocks here are small, so not a big deal for a large dog..but he does get a bit plugged up from time to time no doubt til the (ouch!) rock is ejected...is that the correct word ?
So the vet did say this could happen, and if enough rocks are swallowed (or other debris) the dog could be plugged, refuse to eat, weither away and die.
So we have to keep a close eye on him.
So, maybe Illia's goat ate a rock or something ?
So sad !
I can't say I ever noticed that the llamas would eat odd things. i do know that they require more nutrition than I was told when we first got them. Llamas are always inquisitive, and if given a good chance would steal your car key and credit card. They always had that look that if you turned your back that you find them and the car at the mall. I'm not sure but I also think that they would have no problems being part of a high speed police chase either.
We did have problems with liver flukes. We lost a couple of llamas that way.
